Author[Discuss] DE Faction Skill
lol.. so funny.. this is Heroes of War and Money not HOMM5, Yes, this game like HOMM5 but not same 100%. i just talk base on here not HOMM5..^^

Even on here like I showed with talents the DE are supposed to play as magic and might combine not pure might with support magic as you seem to believe they should.


Ah forgot one thing, open your Talents table and look where use the most little talent point. in might section? yes! (only cost 7 point) and compare with point for magic. Still said DE here not playing in might? :p

And elves use only 7 in light magic lowest cost also.. does that make elves a magic faction. No it doesn't, just as 7 pts in attack doesn't make DE a might factions. It is the number and type of talents available that decides if a faction is might or magic not the costs. also the highest costing skill for DE is also might. So yea i still say DE here is not supposed to be playing in might.
Im a DE player, and it would be nice to see my Piercing magic skill actually piercing......When i face, mainly in hunts, creatures with magic shield, instead of doing more damage, when my skill trigger as it should be, i always do less damage, as per magic shield.
It could by that my skill never trigger......but ive played to many times against those creatures.......it is just not working.
Piercing magic is bugged, could be good, but when it WORKS.

So now DE, as a fact, have a racial skill that is totally useless.
22: piercing magic doesn't trigger, it always works. you have skill 5 so you should pierce 50%. Which means that if the creature has 30% magic shield then the magic shield is reduced to 50%*30% = 15% so you would do 85% damage, wheras without magic piercing you would only do 70% damage.

well, the only race with might and magic was demon. demon have the same spell tree with DE too. i wonder why none of you refer unbalance on it? ;p

ok, demon is balance on might and magic. demon have not bad troops size with not bad hp overall, atk and def. demon can increase unit on battlefield by gate. gated unit can be good for dealing dmg (might) and drag the battle longer (for cast spell, magic).

what most DE do now is invest on atk and def to be might. but, dont you think DE can be both might and magic?

in HoMM, DE was powerful with element chain and element call.of course, in HoWM, you cant make the spell too powerful as all factions ONLY have limited troops. if spells are too powerful, it will ruin the entire game balance.

hence, DE cant get element chain in HoWM which really tweak DE alot. so, that's why i come out the idea on swap the magic pierce with elemental call to boost the magic for DE. DE can be both magic and might :)
and if really DE is magic fraction that mean more bad in here, very bad.
if DE got more magic that mean might power have been really overpowered.

why? this is the answer.

Might fraction:
Knight: if try playing magic (putting all in SP and knowleadge)
can knight still strong? can they win in battle? the answer mostly no.
That mean they really might fraction and the power for magic only a little.

Elf: if try playing magic (putting all in SP and knowleadge)
can Elf still strong? can they win in battle? the answer mostly no.

Magic Fraction:
Wizard: if try playing Might (putting all in Attack and def)
can wizard still strong? can they win in battle? the answer mostly no.

And not only win in battle but the Winner in Tournament!

Look, DE wrong putting stat but still strong and the winner in tounament beat all other fraction who putting right stats!

And now if DE got more magical without less in might power, what you think, overpowered or not?

if most of the DE are happy with new faction skill, we can start talking how to tweak the might without hurt DE too much :)

Actually, Basic Fortune only costs 7 points for Elves. And if you look at most Elves they will have chosen fortune over magic because they know what is better for them.

I think this will make magic build balanced. And won't affect the might build so there might not be a need to make changes for fear of DE becoming overpowered.

And I really don't see how giving DE a decent faction skill makes them overpowered. After all, might build of DE doesn't rely on magic, so people playing might DE probably wouldn't even notice the change =) And it would give an option to play DE as a magic faction. Besides, DE are already in need of tweaking. I mean, c'mon, soldier's luck? For a DE? You gotta be kidding me...

lightmages? are you meaning "magi" ?
Im my opinion Wiz without magic is very weak, but if you think still strong its ok maybe you can trying fight with wiz (use some art for attack to make balance with your attack) and ask wiz for no magic.

And I really don't see how giving DE a decent faction skill makes them overpowered. Giving more power without make less power in other side that must overpowerd, that clear.
I believe that the change is good but to make Hanhan happy we should maybe take off 5% or 10% damage. other than that I believe that deare powerful because of rouge and bandits (in beginning).
No, I mean a Wisard who has put 1 point in Kn and the rest in attack and defence. A wisard who's wearing artifacts that futher boost their att/def. A wisard that has erudition as his perks. And of course is wearing appropriate miniarts. THAT is scary.

We've got a race that could've worked as a might race and as a magic race. But right now the only way for a DE to put all stats in attack. Would a magic-based racial skill matter for someone who has 1Kn, 0SP? I doubt it.

True, it's possible that with a normal skill DE will become unbalanced, but it's not like we have balance right now. It only takes 1 tournament to see which race is overpowered and which is not. After all, that's what tournaments are for.

So, give DE a raciall skill that's useful, than talk about them being imba. As it is, even the DE perks are weired.

From in begining im have said im agree to change DE fraction skill to make more power in magic, that nice but of couse DE player must be ready to got less power in other side.

I'm aware of that, and I ment what I said. Admins start tournaments spesifically to see what needs to be done with balance, or so they say.

I'm not arguing with that, either. But how much should the might of DE go down? We'll never know untill and unless something is done with racial skill. Plus, right now, admins are using perks to tweak balance, so maybe "the might goes down" will simply mean a more expensive atack branch and not, say, less rogues.

In all honesty, we'll probably never know. :(

in here DE good in might that the fact, if you put in magic that your fault if cant win.. so the meaning you dont know what is better for you.
Duh, DE have plenty of magic in perks, start using magic from level 1, and yet there's no chance to play a DE mage and be successful.

Heck, you can even play an Elf mage, with perks like light magic and mass hast/bless. Granted, it works best for groups and even there you won't get much exp, but it's still an option! Look at demons - wanna be a mage? sure! wanna be a warrior? be my guest! Necro have a choice between being a battlenecr or a poisoner. Why can't DE have the same choice? Who says that DE are a strictly might faction?
