AuthorThe Fire Clan
Representatives of the Dwarf people have many characteristics, but cunning is not one of them. However, their legendary stubbornness, combined with their special ingenuity, can surprise other races, or even catch them off guard. Thus, when the situation in the imperial waters subsided, the coastal patrols returned to their usual routes, but stayed in a state of high alert, not only because of the exacerbation of pirate activities, but also in anticipation of the possible appearance of the ships of the Fire Clan. They did not consider the possibility that some of these very ships had already slipped through, taking advantage of the recent confusion, and the landed detachments, having secured the support of the worst enemies of the Empire, were already marching inland.

Meanwhile, the leader of the Dwarves Tolgar stayed in his country residence. Having never found his desired oblivion in battle, the old dwarf decided to look for it elsewhere - at the bottom of a barrel of ale. But in which of the many barrels in his cellar was it hidden? Tolgar did not know. Therefore, he decided to selflessly challenge all of them - and soon "fell" in an unequal battle, stuck his nose in the table and plunged into the dreams.

The Dwarf dreamed of battles to which he had devoted his entire life. He saw glorious victories and bitter defeats. There seemed to be nothing unusual in this, but from time to time these visions were interrupted by others - from the old past of his people. He saw some of these events with his own eyes, but heard the rest from the elders. The great kingdom of the Dwarves, mighty and monolithic, appeared before his eyes. Its inhabitants knew neither misery nor suffering. They had everything - wealth, security, happiness.

And so it lasted for many years, until one day at one of the royal receptions, two elders had a dispute. They wondered where the first Dwarves came from. One of them claimed that the gods whipped them out of the monolithic rock with icy winds. The other proved that the Gods forged them in the flames of the underground forge. How stupid did it seem? But with this stupidity it all began. Not wanting to accept an alternative opinion in any form, the elders began to gather the support of the dwarf intelligentsia, and then went to promote their ideas to the people. So the grain of discord was sown. The confrontation was ripe for years. At first it was just a dispute over a mug of ale. Then they often ended in a mug of ale. And the cherry on the cake was the general contempt of the adherents of the two beliefs for each other.

Then twin sons appeared in the royal family. In his sincere desire keep his people united, the king named his newborns Tolgar and Lotgar which, in ancient dialect, meant "son of stone" and "son of fire". According to the king’s plan, this gesture was a call for reconciliation. And he got it, but not for long. Over the years, the warm brotherly bonds of the two young princes grew into a boyish rivalry, which eventually split them apart. The enmity that had calmed down returned with new strength, only this time each of the factions was headed by a new leader - a true heir to the throne. Under their leadership, two clans were created, plunging the kingdom into a civil war.

Fracture was inevitable, and the sudden death of the sovereign became a point of no return. The common grief forced the brothers to stop the open war, but they never found reconciliation. Soon the great kingdom of Dwarves disappeared from the face of the earth, and in its place were formed two kingdoms - Fire and Stone. Their inhabitants did not get along with each other, but they did not resort to resolving their conflicts with weapons. Such was the compromise - and for many decades, nothing changed, until a new generation grew up. Many young dwarves did not share their parents' established beliefs, and Prince Albrecht, son of King Lotgar, was one of them. Moreover, he even seeked conciliation between his father and uncle, but with the stubbornness of the two old dwarves, even the gods themselves would not have succeeded. So, when Lotgar came to know about the invasion of the lands of the kingdom of the Stone of numerous enemy hordes, the king of fire gave the order to do nothing before Tolgar himself personally asked him for help. Realizing that this would never happen, the young prince decided to disobey his father's order and went to the aid of his uncle with a faithful retinue. Unfortunately, it was already too late. The Stone clan was broken, the capital fell, and the remnants of the dwarfs under the leadership of the surviving King Tolgar retreated to the coast and were forced to flee by the sea. Albrecht also sailed with them, fighting shoulder to shoulder with his uncle in many battles and adventures, until one day they were divided by a bloody storm. Now, Lotgar's mercenaries came and accused his brother of kidnapping the prince. And the only one who could disprove everything, Prince Albrecht himself, alas, died tragically, falling victim to the inhumane torture of the necromancer known as Fjörliss.

Not only because of anger, but also because of the feeling of hopelessness, Tolgar suddenly growled angrily. At that moment a mysterious ghostly silhouette appeared behind his back. A transparent female hand then carefully placed something on the table, after which the ghostly girl hurried to hide behind the shelves. As he came to his senses, the first thing the dwarf leader did was to look for a mug, feeling around the table blindly with his hand. Suddenly his fingers felt something else. Barely able to lift his head off the table surface, Tolgar gathered all his strength and focused his gaze on the mysterious find, and was suddenly overwhelmed. It was the lost mythyl flask - his nephew's last gift. Rubbing his eyes with his free hand, the dwarf looked at it again - and his eyes really did not deceive him. "Happy anniversary, Uncle Tolgar! Your nephew A. - Seeing this engraving again after so many years, the leader of the dwarves choked up in sorrow: "My boy, you deserved a better destiny. We all deserved..." As his voice trailed off, the dwarf's eyes began to burn with determination, as if it has eradicated the hops from his mind, leaving only one thought in his head - the fight was not over yet.
