Author | Assault and knockback. |
Good day, dear friends.
I need help with one question ... Do you mind if I start from afar?
The creature *Lizard assailant* (grimrider) have ability *Assault*.
- Whenever an enemy stack adjacent to this creature is attacked in melee by any commanded troops, this creature deals 50% of its normal damage to it.
The creature *Ogre* have ability *Knockback*.
- After every attack, this creature has a chance to knock the target by one tile at the direction of its attack. The target will not be able to retaliate after a successful knockback, as well as it will lose all of its accumulated initiative. Large creatures cannot be knocked.
So... What is my question? Ah, sure...
Lets imagine Dark Elf (or Tamer) in the insight tournament.
And now imagine orb of reinforcement with ogre.
Whether the lizard bites enemy, when the ogre will throw enemy FROM lizard?
Or lizard bites enemy, when ogre will trow enemy TO lizard?
In the first case the lizard bites enemy through one box.
In the second case, lizard bites enemy, whos not standing before next field.
Both cases are not logically correct. But we have one of them for sure will work... Which option is right? |
i dont think the lizard will be able to bite(attack) the unit that has been displaced away to a tile adjacent to itself. |
Incomplete answer in previous post; I think the lizard will not peform assault in either case whether the enemy unit is displaced towards or away from the tile adjacent to lizards.
From experience, the lizards can only assault an enemy unit situated in a tile adjacent to itself before another commanded unit attacks it. Similarly if an adjacent target is pushed away by ogres, then assault will be prevented as it always happens after the first attack is completed not before or in between. |
for virtual_vitrea:
Nuance that the first effect is applied against the attack of any stack (dark sibyls, for example), and then lizard bites.
But... How can lizard bite enemy, who is far away?
Note: if ogre throw enemy in trap, trap will work (trigged).
In theory, lizard must also bite discarded enemy, because:
1 ) Enemy had just been attacked by an ally.
2 ) Eemy (now) is in the adjacent field . |
1 ) Enemy had just been attacked by an ally.
2 ) Eemy (now) is in the adjacent field .
1 and 2 doesn't mean enemy was attacked when adjacent (when moved towards) nor does it allow the enemy to receive additional assault when it has moved afar. |
in the first case assault definitely wont happen. an example of that is if ursaries attack while using rune of crusade, and the first attack has knockback then the second attack wont happen, same thing would happen here.
as for your second case, i cant see that working but i have never known of a case like it so who knows :D |

When lizard checked for the presence enemy near?
If before strike - the lizards have gnawed corpse.
If after the impact - the lizards are already seeing the enemy in position beside him and get information about what the opponent was hit by an ally (Ogre), and that the blow was struck in melee .
I'm confused... |

Indeed, why I didnt think abkut dwarf's ursaries?) Thank you) |
get information about what the opponent was hit by an ally (Ogre), and that the blow was struck in melee .
Not really.. Why are you complicating things unnecessarily?
The thing you described can be likened to an enemy moving adjacent to lizards but thats about it. The attack happened when it was farther and it doesn't trigger assault simply because enemy was forced closer to lizards.
Again, the attack happened before X became adjacent. It cannot trigger assault. |
