AuthorTactics against Tribal
With great embarrassment I tell you about my latest and my first duel against a tribal. We were both min. AP but seeing his poor troops with low health and speed, I decided to rush into him. I was taken into reality when his shamans stopped my vampires and ghosts dead on their tracks before his slowpoke invokers started gathering spirit. I could only watch as he later butchered my vampires into pieces and ghosts into ashes. This was my first duel going full might ( after comments on my second thread regarding might and magic necro). So well firstly I would say that if I had maybe gone as a mage necro I might have fared better, considering that I would have kept dom of pain as a talent and 60 mana, I would have used magic punch and bowmen to weaken his centaurs instead of barging in and Instead of raise 4 measly vamps ( much to my distress) I would have raised 7-8 and 27 ghosts. So basically my two questions.

1) How to go about dueling tribals who are still a mystery to me. Should I play defensive and wait for them to come to full power or attack and let shamans freeze me and speed their troops. ( Both options look pretty dull)

2) Did I do the right thing going might? Well...I only have 4 festive potions left in stock you see.

oh well that battle is an embarrassing one for sure.

The only one and single principal is that u cant let them accumulate that spirit or ur done.

Attack just one stack like invaders and get it to 0 tribal spirit.That will also prevent any damage damping.

I dont know what happened but I think I would have won him,although I havent played tribals with this account,I cant say for sure.

Just remember the principal rule.Attack fast and furious
I personally feel they are pretty easy to kill. Just take care of their spirit level and its very easy.
They key to win Tribal is not to let them sim tribal spirit..Offensive tactic is a must

Mage also proven to be effective as wizard/DE can do devasting damage
You were a bit unlucky with ghosts and morale in his invaders.

I've seen necros winning tribals playing defensive, don't forget that the only way for them to gather spirit is to hitting you or casting magic. Your vamps always have more speed than invaders, that should make you hit first. Your ghosts, if lucky, can advance and help you to kill centaurs, or can stay behind with vamps. Your range can be devastating, use skellys to lower the spirit of their key troop if necessary.

Also, his delay/rapid had short duration (2 turn), he was expecting you to rush, because he had the retal takers, and would have the bonus.

I think you could have done much better with dominion of life, but some luck in hit/miss of ghosts wouldn't hurt you :P
