| So, before I will begin a large, boring conversation, spent a lot of your own time, I should tell you that my Enslish isn't perfect now. To tell the truth, I'm very very tired. All foreign people, educated by very clever scientist, always categorise my like a cheap Russian whore and stupid comunist, admired Stalin and Lenin. Can it be unannoying to my, do you think? There is 100 million cattles, existed in USA and UK, but have anyone taken a few notice for they? Probably, haven't. Why do you always stigmatize person by old and silly stereotipes? Why must people judge the minority on the majority? | Hmm, I remember there was a similar conversation in this forum also, about 4 years ago. There was also some Russian player, male if I'm not mistaken, asking same things about stereotypes.
It's widely known that stereotyping is a big social problem caused by lack of education.
At first, as children, people have no ideas of their own, and they are strongly influenced by what they hear. Their brains are like little sponges absorbing information and shaping their understanding of the world based on it. If parents don't find enough time to do that themselves, or possibility to enlighten the child with education media, then he/she will fill those gaps with things he/she hears on the street, or on tv etc, and those two, street and mass media, are the two places where you will hear such concepts most of the time.
Then later, when a person matures, the responsibility is no longer on others' shoulders, it lies on their very own. Do they want to develop, to do self-education by at least studying the world they live in, by reading books, by studying history, by communicating with other people who are doing the same; or will they just leave it to the Internet, well, to the same source of information: mass culture.
If a person doesn't wish to evolve and rather prefers to be carried by the flow of life, you can't seriously be worried about what that person thinks of you.
And there comes the main question. Is it really important for you to be 'good' for everyone you come in touch with? OK, it is safe to assume you cannot be good for everyone. But does the idea that the masses have of you really matter; or rather, you'd strive for appreciation by those selected people (several hundred at most) you want to be appreciated by? ;)
Because in the end, People as species, and even People as a nation, are not the social group to really classify you as an individual, unless you are a powers-that-be person.
I've traveled a lot in my life, seen many cultures and heard many opinions, and all that has shaped an idea in my head that there is no big sense in building up my image for the unknown people around me. I am only anxious about my image with people who I consider important; I care least about what an unknown pedestrian thinks of me when I walk past.
Well, in fact, all that might be a self-defense mechanism, for I'm a Caucasian living in a conservative Asian country, and for overwhelming majority of casual people my face is an alien face. But this doesn't contradict to what I have written, nor changes the entire idea =) | | [Post deleted by moderator ElfPride // The Official game-language is English] | | russia havent changed much.. i am frm latvia...was in russia. moscow.. when i was 5 and now when i am 17...whats new? same ladas,same hobos on the streets asking for money, same guys at the tunnels and parks siting, drinking beer and eating sunflower seeds,almost everything is the same...normal people in russia are not minority...there is 50 of normal people...the new generation | | 50% not 50...sry for double post, but thats how i see it as living in the neibhour country of russia... | | will definetly get a ban for the third post, but i ahve seen videos or russian drives... srsly a jet flying towards a car in a height of 15 metres...or a heli overtaking a car at 200 kmh...thats only in russia, and also making their jets fly in our country witouth permision, also, can afford only russians, because they know we cant do anything we are too small...missiles aimed at their jets, but no1 is shooting because in our army there are 100 tanks, they got the same tanks but atleast 10000... |
