It has come to my attention, as a member of the SPCA (Society for the Protection of Christmas Animals) and a great observer of the flora and fauna of our land, that we Lords and Ladies are more than happy to exploit the animals of this vast empire.
For the last two New Years, I have had increasing concerns about the considerable strain put on one such species of our land, the humble deer. For a few days each year, thousands of these poor creatures are rounded up by the Packmasters in order to satisfy the transport needs of us, the Lords and Ladies of the empire. Following the herding of the deer, the Packmasters proceed to keep them in tight confines away from their natural habitat. Beyond this, just before the New Year arrives, a heavy burden is placed upon the poor deer. For not only are the deer required to carry around those heavy bottomed wizards for several days, but they are expected to do so at a rate of 80%, unusual when the creature itself has no magical properties. The severity of the burden placed upon these poor beasts can be seen when comparing the speeds they are required to travel in comparison to other beasts. The stallion, for example, is only required to travel at a speed of 70% faster around the map. How is it that the deer are expected to travel faster than these pure-bred race-horses? Indeed, deer are light and nimble and can travel at fast speeds, but in much shorter bursts than the horses. However, over the New Year period the deer are expected to travel much more, as we Lords and Ladies exploit the poor creatures to travel as we partake in barbaric acts of savagery as hired mercenaries.
The purpose of this post is simply to highlight the plight of these ruminant animals and to get you to think about how your actions are affecting them. The Society for the Protection of Christmas Animals (SPCA) would like to invite you to comment with your thoughts on this issue and to help highlight this issue to other players. Other projects of the SPCA include trying to prevent the Dragon 2012 from being labelled 'evil' when it is merely misunderstood, as well as trying to ensure Elves are paid overtime for their Christmas hours in December.
Happy New Year for all but the Deer!

Deerzbe | lol :D i'm surprised DS members have not spoken out in support of your cause ^^ | Agree with all, except
I don't know about your bottom, but mine ain't all that heavy. My belly on the other hand....
And no extra pay for those frolicking elves. No pay at all as a matter of fact, they do no work all year long, it's only fair they catch up on Christmas. | Great thread buddy. Its really something to ponder upon...

Same here :p | lol this thread is so funny :)
for naviron:
Your belly makes your bottom heavy mate :) | Give back my reindeer dizzy! | Free my reindeer! | On the 4th of January, the Packmasters attempted once again to herd the reindeer up as lords returned them. It was their desire to keep them until christmas in tightly confined enclosures once more. I am happy to announce that earlier this morning, on the 5th January, a small group of saboteurs, lead by myself, overwhelmed the Packmasters and freed the Reindeers with nothing but a piece of string.
Unfortunately for those of you wishing to exploit the reindeer next Christmas period, you may have to catch them first. Hurrah! | *brings my reindeer home: all 8 castles* | really | Yes really.
Rumours have reached my ears of an even greater distress to the wonderful reindeer. Supposedly they are being rounded up with the intention of transporting supplies to the far away Russian lands! I hear Empire is dismantling her castle marble block by marble block and burdening the reindeer with these supplies, so that she can reconstruct her castle in the new lands.
Will the suffering ever end? :S |
