Author | Unethical bumping trick |
This is something I have thought of relatively new. As we all know, we can bump a thread every once an hour. Even if we try to bump it less than that time, it doesn't go up. So suppose I do this way:
I see that my thread is ready to be bumped as the time has elapsed. But I don't want this to happen that as soon as I bump my thread, someone else bumps it. So what do I do is I start bumping all my competitors' thread one after the other, and then finally, I bump my own thread, so that my thread remains at the top for at least the next 45 minutes. I guess this is completely unethical. Is there any rule to prevent this? (I couldn't find any). |
Yes, there are several rules against this.
Rule 4.3
Local 3.2
are the rules usually quoted, but players can be banned under other rule violations.
The exploit you mentioned is widely known. You can also bump other threads at every 59min interval which effectively prevents the thread from ever being bumped. |
But how to check out if he really meant to do this? Suppose he bumps a thread, only one of his competitors, and then bumps his own after like 5 mins. He could defend himself saying he was ted to bump the other thread because it was a better service. |
It is legal. Prevent it ? But why ? I really like the idea of having a retard bumping my threads ^_^ |
Anyway, if you seriously want to prevent it, you can always lock your bumped thread and start a new one with exactly the same title and text. |

That method is against Local 3.1

That's up to the interpretation and enforcement by the mods. If he does this often enough, you can present your complaint to a mod. |
Yeah right, forgot that. Then ask a mod to delete the previous thread and create a new one. |
Forum Rule 4.3. Flashmobs on our forums are forbidden. Flashmobs are events when a player or a group of players post multiple messages of similar content in order to promote a topic, sink a different topic or provoke a moderator to lock or delete an important topic.
Posting in other players topic and then in your own, that are both in same section, just to prevent the competitor's topic owner to put it to the top of yours, can be considered as such action, definitely when violator repeats such tactic and the other player topic owner complain about it to the moderator. |
Oh, I understand. Thanks. QATC. |
Again my brother forgot to log off. I'll kill him this time for sure. QATC. |
