probably a stupid question :)
Is there a cap on how easy a thief caravan can get?
Because for some caravans i never seem to reach the level where i can win with min art.
Literally never had a single Knight win and only one Elf win. (after 30-40 caravans each ... didn't count)
Do i just need to be a bit more patient?

Yes there is a cap in the minimum difficulty, but I really doubt that it would take the slightest effort to win such caravan, even in min AP. |
in that case - i battle on :)
eventually i will win i guess .... |
I hope someone can give you a good answer on it. What really troubles me is that I thought it's naturally impossible for someone with 270 WON ambushes to have such low win/lose ration against one faction. However reaching the minimum difficulty and still being unable to win is also impossible IMO.
In any case, note that there are different difficulty "counters" for the different caravan type. Meaning, a Caravan of Knights (CoK) which has a big Angels stack and a CoK which has shooters and farmers/swordmen stacks have a different difficulty level (depending on how many times you won/lost each caravan TYPE). |
i forgot to mention - its no win against Knight since lvl14.
I did no thieving at lvl 13/12 and before didn't do min art.
So i guess it takes a while to push the caravan back down to a winning lvl.

Mystery solved.
Definitely, with non-min AP battles the difficulty could get very high. Plus, the caravans get a boost in Initiative equal to your CL. |
Mystery solved.
true!
i started to min ap ambushes at mid of TG3. before i always did fullart ambush.
it seemed that i would never win an ambush again... countless loses in a row. but suddenly u can make it again :
and than win/loose ratio is like befor IMO.
for the min/full art thing. i have noticed quite some "good" players use a mixed art for thiefing. for example iron arts(15-20ap). so u spend a little more gold on stuff but in case u ambush a player, the chance is higher to get ur TG-point than fighting with min ap... :)
may that also is interesting for u!

for Tattersail:
I know exactly how you feel. I've done ambushes at cl 12 in max ap, as a fl 8 demon. Now at cl 13 I try to do them in min ap as a cl5 dwarf. And the difference in win/loss ratio is huge. I think I've lost over a hundred of them already, and I'm still having trouble most of the time...
All you can do (and me as well) is keep on doing them until they get easy enough to win. |
The floor min difficulty of caravans is very difficult to reach. This is even more so for higher combat levels and players that have already won a lot of caravans. For those who think only a few hundred losses would be enough... keep on dreaming. After I stopped using enchanted arts to win, I went through almost 3000 caravan battles (over 95% losses) and I still couldn't get the difficulty down to where I could win with min AP most of the time. The floor difficulty is much lower than min AP unless one is using low faction level or is really bad at fighting. |
for Pantheon:
So what you are saying is that we should use mid ap/max ap, unless we are prepared to lose a few thousand fights? |
I think the problem is solved, but a little information that could
help you:
There are 2 types of difficulty: combat lvl and win ratio. Combat lvl affects caravan lvl and win ratio affects caravan stack units.
Whenever you win a caravan, the difficulty increases by about 7% and becomes 5% weaker after every defeat.
When you level up, the difficulty increase by 30%. |
my strategy:
use ONLY min ap in ambush, naturally if u have not enough patience(u dont wanna loooose lots of battles), and u have low FL, maybe wear better arts...
but my advice is, till we have this system in TG, just try to play with min ap always... |
