Author | Basic game rules tutorial for newbies |
Most of the players who register in the game do not even read the game rules or the terms and conditions and then just tick mark the "I accept the terms and conditions" box without realizing what is in it.
Since they do not know the game rules, the have a high chances of making mistakes. For eg. many players (even some old players) don't know if we have to write "this is my main character and I have a multi xyz" etc. in their personal info. And it is mostly their ignorance that sometimes leads to their blocks/penalties.
So I am suggesting an idea/a suggestion to curb this unintentional rule breaking by new players.
There is the gatekeeper (the one that gives tutorial till level 5 in the character page). Just like it gives tutorial on how to hunt, enroll, etc. It could also mention some basic rules of the game.
Eg. One of the tasks the gatekeeper could give is:
"You are allowed to make only 2 other characters in the game" or "You should sign your character"
My idea might seem stupid enough, but if it is done, the newbies could be made familiar with at least some of the main rules of the game. The idea I have suggested is just my view. There could be millions of other possibilities. Basically what I wanted to say was that the newbies should be taught the game rules, not leaving them to read the rules on their own, through some means such as the tutorial by the gatekeeper. It might help in reducing the breaking of game rules by some players.

unfortunately ignorance is not a defence which can be used even in RL so getting yourself acquainted is your best option |
I am not only talking about multis. I am talking about EVERY rule in the game (which is utterly necessary).
The rules may be only little, but to find out what is important is hard for the new guyz. |

you mean this set of official rules is not comprehensive enough? instead of "guessing" which rules are more important than others (if there's such a thing at all), treat them all equally and abide by them - easiest way to stay within the law |

well said so administration should put a code that makes the gatekeeper make us follow the rules i would be much better since ppl then could not feign ignorance |
the point is: ignorance is not an excuse.
When you arrive, you know that there are rule. There is a section called 'about the game' that includes them.
Those that feel too smart to take the time and read them, already deserve the penalties they will get. It will be a lesson of life: learn to be humble.

May be,Admins should re-direct every new player or player with new account to the rules page after the initial intro page(But before the Tutorial),so that people will have a chance to read rules at the very start of their LWM career. Whether or not they actually read it,is a different matter altogether ;) |
maybe he is talking about the demo battle available in .ru
or something like that |
Give them a reward of 1000 gold for doing as you want them to do and everyone will obey :) |
for I_own_you_all:
Yup. When they complete each task, small amount of gold must be given, just 10 gold or so. This is very less amount, but this gives lots of encouragement to new players :) |

Some quiz with rules questions for 1k gold would be nice. |

Is a good idea :) |
It could be like on KOTOR where you have to learn the sith code before being tested by your master, ask the new guys about 5 questions on a few of the more basic rules and give them say an artifact as a reward. |

good idea too |
it could be in the tips section on character page
like other tips that shows now and then
like "tip of the day"
or just rolling trough them every time you come on charater page
i like idea with quiz also
it could be done that after you click that you read and accept rules, you get a little quiz
if you pass, you get some reward
i would do it if i am new |
Ok ... but what when the player gives some/many wrong answers? I guess that there will be many people who won't read anything and click anything, not knowing what the hell they do.
My suggestion: Allow the failed tryers to repeat the *quiz* again (in case it will be like that) after one day/week/month.
At this game's beginning people start as beggars, no money, no arts, not even ideas of fighting. Give them the chance to gain some gold and they will do everything for it.
In case the player was a i click around in the quiz but have no idea dude and then finds out he can't even afford the roundshield, but you offer him/her 1000 gold for having read the rules, he/she will do :) |

I consider blocking those players a good thing. ;)
How about taking it one step further? New players can only hit CL3 after successfully answering the questions?
(at CL3, players can start sending PMs, and transfer/receive gold and items... in a nutshell: it's the combat level where the real cheating could start) |
hmmm...the ideas which have been suggested are all good :) |
