Author | Surprised no one has suggested this. Vs. CPU? |
So, I just came back to this game, having not played actively since 2009ish, and was surprised how small the community had gotten, but that's for another time.
I had an interesting idea that I haven't seen anyone talk about much: A 'training'/'Vs. CPU' mode. I've noticed that a lot of RTS style games like Age of Empires and Halo Wars have a feature like this. Basically, a fight against an AI-controlled hero of the faction of your choosing.
So, let me break it down for you. This game is all about strategy, right? Then what better way to develop strategies than to test them against a CPU hero like this? Keep in mind this is much different than a hunt.
1)You could pick the faction(possibly the level?) and the difficulty as well(Easy, Medium, Hard, etc).
2)Obviously you wouldn't get any exp, fsp, arts, or money from this since you can do it infinitely, but your arts will also not degrade from these fights, and you would not lose mana or heath afterwards.
3)Could be duels, or any type of group battle w/AI teammates.
4)Could also have a challenge mode(with rewards)that players could do every 1-2 hours depending on how well they do. In this mode, you would have to fight off as many waves of increasing difficulty as you could. Example: You survive (x) Waves and earn (x)gold and (x)ore.

i like it
too bad we will never get it.
4) is already sort of implemented though, as Survival Tournament, and as Monster Raids quest in MG (i think that's how they're called) |

Lol, when I first got up and read your name, I read it as 'stoner'. Hahaa
Anyways, I figured it must've been suggested somewhere down the line, I just didn't see it anywhere in the first few pages. For what it's worth, I tried to make mine more comprehensive than others, though. |

A great idea, but almost exactly what happened while you were gone:

Why don't you just develop your strategies by testing them against other players? Testing them against AI opponents is no good; they're still kind of stupid, even after many AI updates.
This is a turn-based, not real-time strategy game. For RTS, the point of practice against AI is mainly to hone your reflex. That's not necessary here. |
I am aware that no AI is perfect, this game being no exception. The advantage would be not losing durability on your arts(if you use em), and not having to wait for restoration if you lose. Heck, if anything, they could use something like that to test and further develop AIs. Plus, it can be a b*tch and a half to catch your friends online, especially when you only know like 3 people that play. xP
I understand that this isn't a true RTS, I was just using Ensemble's games as an example because they offer the type of gameplay option I was suggesting, so people would have something to better compare it to if they didn't understand what I was talking about. I wasn't necessarily comparing the gameplay styles at all. |
+1
I had once suggested about a similar thing except that its duel/CG b/w players with no loss in durability but no exp, fsp & gold or combat count. |
