Indeed, you were very lucky. Sometimes you need to wait there for days to get them and very rarely just a few minutes or hours.
They were introduced when the server was just a little baby as an event and they gave special drops then which you can still see in some people's profiles as there is no way to get rid of them and they are no use anymore (e.g. dragons scales, tar, fire glands, etc). |

Ha! Try "months". I spend most of my time there, except when I need to do merc quests or go shopping, and I don't remember the last time I got attacked. It must have been at least two years ago. |

| Back in the day when dragons were roaming the earth and skies aplenty, we used to be able to fight them as an event in teams of 3. Victors were awarded with these materials, (along with not particularly great fsp - but we didn't care :P) which were then used for the construction of the lighthouse and pier. For better wages was probably the most pecuniary reason, but the game announcements also encouraged us to build them. |
