AuthorMercenary Guild Defense Quests
I believe that there needs to be an improved AI that plays defensively for any mercenary guild quest that requires the player to defend a stack of units. I have an example of a combat that was lost almost immediately due to the NPC stack charging into combat and dieing. (https://www.lordswm.com/warlog.php?warid=498441118)
With the abilities of shrews they could have passed first turn and then used wizard units as blockers using no retaliation and strike+return to attack form cover. The problem lies with the fact that they played just as if in a hunter fight which would be an entirely different scenario.
Only vanguard of barbarians {x} have this problem, the other creatures you have to defend ( mercernary archers, magi, enchanted gargoyles, dark witches, farmers, grandmaster bowmen ) are doing fine.
Reprogramming the AI for that one quest,l admins can spend their time better :)

Everyone has had it at least once, after that you know they will do it again, so you put your troops around it from the start so it cant move and steal your fsp.
Perhaps admins did it to challenge players.
Nothing has to be changed here, very simple (tactical) solution:
block shrews (placing units around them) from moving in 1st turn, after u can 'unblock' them!
i do same
but once shrews killed 1 stack ogre and other was out of range they got moral and they went near ogres
next turn was of ogres who killed shrews
It's not hard to just block the shrews with your shooters or heavy defense units.

Although I myself forget to do this once in a while. :)

That's true

Admins also help you to get more fsp because you kill all the enemy by yourself (damage not taken by shrews,etc) ;)
Is it so hard to change the AI for NPCs so that they play there strengths? Personally I would like to see better AI in hunter battles and merc quests. Even adding behavior to move only to where the enemy is just within reach of the shrews would be nice, or just waiting on the first round. Making an AI that plays like a six year old does not really make it challenging it makes you feel penalized for having allies.
