I wouldn't bet on any new event; we did not get any of the old events of .ru so far. |
for Slust:
The Sea event on RU were the intro of the sirens, leviathans and angler-fish. Also was roughly the test bed for the Mind Control spells |

Background does not necessary means Upgrade. We had in the past many new background without event.
But who knows may be you are right, but no one can answer this without speculation! |

FYI,
The map has also appeared at RU for the summer festivities. Celebrating Beach sports and all that stuff.
So it could just be the seasonal art update. |

| My multi found herself on the shore in Blooming Glade. The sea level is rising! The sirens are going to cast charm on the wildlife and have them attack us! Our armours and weapons will rust. We're doomed! XD |
| It would be great if they tweak the program a little so this background only appears for hunts/quests with sea creatures. It'll look really funny (and ridiculous) to have zombies, MECHANICAL golems, wolves, lizards, vampires, etc, coming out of the sea.. |
