Kronzak the Cruel used this Lab as a cover facility for his experiments on Elementals.
The Elementals escaped and administered their own special form of Justice to Kronzak before the Empire guard could catch up with them and snuff out their existence. The Elementals vanished, and now it's just a simple lab for producing mercury.
