well I think I got your point, but saying it's stupid is not true.
First, every hunt without enchant has a upper limit, you cant say it's stupid because you can calculate the limit---this way almost all the wiz hunting records are stupid.
Second, the fire damage done by lava shield can be reduced by magic resistance, therefore I think armor enchant would help a lot in this case. Not sure about this since I have not tested it, however it's true that barb receives less damage and egg receives no damage at all from the lava shield |

My comment was mostly based on you said you did't have shooters. It was just misleading when over 25% of DE troops are shooters :o)
you can argue that shrews acts as a kind of shooters also, but that is another discussion. |

Yeah that is a difference but they have one of the same characteristic as shooters.
It can hurt from a position from fat away, which is one of the most importan feaures of a shooter. But yes their is difference, there is a set range, the attack is "melee". But it still acts in its on kind of way as a shooter in a lot of situations |
| shrews are MUCH better than shooters BECAUSE they deal as much damage as shooters BUT DOUBLE the damage because its meelee there is no range penalty and their init is waaaaay much more than any shooters |

so u have an option of magic proof both ways
reducing fireball n lava shield
they good for wizz n barbs(if they add some magic proof as well) |
| don't know about any others but the faction who can access holy magic can use fireproof talent which reduces the fire elemental damage by 50% |
