Some body know about this? The game rule informs large creature cannot knockback effect ability. Why Ranger can do knockback my griffin?

Piercing shot:
Ranged attacks of this creature ignore 50% defense and have a chance to cause the target lose all accumulated initiative and push it one tile backwards.
Its piercing so it can knockback any creature
