AuthorIncrease Timeout of fights against PvE's
Please increase the timeout in solo fights against PvE's, from 8 hours to at least 24 hours.

My one and only, my unique and last chance to meet with Destiny...missed! because I slept more than 8 hours last night :( :( :(
Life is soo unfair, but Death by AFK is even MORE!

I did! The Dragon guard's attack started when I was offline!

In Ridge of Hope I've spent about 300-500 hours and was never attacked (I mean the sum of all my visits there).
I guess it was bad luck for me.

Btw, +1 for suggestion.
Happened to me once too. Went afk after starting a hunt and...well, by the time i came back it was over :P

Since it's against neutrals, i don't see why we can't have 24 hrs for timeout, not like they need to go anywhere in a hurry :)

Increasing it would be a bad idea, because this "auto time out thing" is made for people that are stuck in a combat. Then after 8 hours they can play again, imagine you are stuck and have to wait 24!!! hours before you can play again ...

For the people "stuck" in combat, there should be HUMAN tech-assist. Not from personal experience, but rather I've heard that tech problems are assisted on .ru in less than an hour.

I think that trying to fix a wrong by introducing another wrong, is just ... still wrong!

Btw: I don't think anyone is trying to face off the Dragon guards for the fsp! It's just its a unique fight in its own way, and soo rare that makes it even more valued.

next time take your arts off when you go to sleep and beware of being attacked.
8 hrs is more than enough not only to finish any battle, but to have a great sleep as well.

It is not about the arts, the gold, or the darn' fsp!

It's about passing by the one in a life time chance to face off the Dragon guards, missing on the only opportunity to clinch my claws in their throats and throw all the power of my 8 Mega Volts of Spell Power through their flesh..

Instead I've had to see them spitting fire and frost bite all over my troops, which in the end melted down at the end of an useless .... count down :( :( :(

I've missed my meeting with Destiny, my hand shake with Eternity, my blessing of Divinity... :( :( :(

lol i had maybe 5 or 6 battles with them in dragon caves on ru and never was really thrilled to :)

Ok so if it's implemented, that means the battles page will become congested with people who are after for an entire day? Which would lag the server for all the people who are actively playing, did anyone think about that side of this suggestion?

Sorry, I didn't entirely get that part :S
he means there will be lots of battles online, on "pause", which will affect the serv. don't think this is actual as lags begin only when there are more than 15 hundred online and most of them fight

Well, this should depend on the kind of programming(we actually dont know how it is saved). If your computer doesnt exchange any info with the server when you are away, while combat "runs" pauzed, it shouldnt lag at all because it would be saved like an unfinished battle log. And battle logs dont lag the server until they are watched..
Omega22, when a battle is considered ACTIVE, the server is always checking to see if new commands arrived.
Operating systems have signals that wait (in a sort of "sleep" mode) on certain ports/network connections and they are "awaken" as soon as a new input is received. The server does NOT repetitively check for messages from clients. Just think about how many such clients exist, and how many could vanish or the link drop, and the server would uselessly keep checking for messages in vain -- this is not the way it works!

Instead, by using signals that "awaken" the server thread on any received message, the overhead of more *passive* connections is minimum -- other than just probably a little bit more memory to keep the parameters of the battle (but even that can be swapped onto disk).

So the total overhead on the server for increasing the timeout against neutrals is minimum!

The explanation citizen Sven91 gave in post 7 seems more sensible to me, as the reason of the battle timeout. No software is perfect, but...

5 hours?!?!?!.... I reaaaaly think it is highly insufficient!
That's not enough sleep not even for my cat!

:( :( :( :( (sobbing continues uncontrollably. my cat sobbing too. water levels beyond critical. all not drown yet are advised to drop weapons/armors and rush for floats and life vests ASAP!) :( :( :( :(
