with arts its 7 but still i deal 7-10 damage!!

Because you deal more damages when you level up. Just as you may recruit more troops at higher lvl, even if you have exactly the same buildings in your castle.
At lvl 5, you may also use talents, and barb have a talent that increase damages dealt by hero. |
