in this match i used 90 percent magic shield. 40 percent from 2 talents, 15 percent from robe, 5 percent from footgear, and 30 percent from unicorns, but still the wizard did me 80 damage with fireball and 104 damage with lightning. how is it possible for so much damage against my 90 percent magic shield |

No it isn't. Therefore it would be something like 60% shild not 90%. |

Each mithril item gives you 5%, so it's (1-0.05) = 0.95 per mithril item. Works the same for the other things, so Barrier gives (1-0.2) = 0.8,resistance also ( give you (1-0.2)=0.8 and robe (1-0.15) = 0.85
Now all these values are multiplied together:
0.95^1 * 0.8* 0.8 * 0.85 = 0.5168 (~=51.68%)

| yes ... you only have about 50% resistance ... they are not cumulative ... they are multiplicative |
formula :
1-(1-r1)(1-r2) and etc... same with ranged defense...
1-(1-0.4)(1-0.15)(1-0.05)(1-0.3)~=0.66085 means , 66% resist only , not 90%..

barrier and resistance do not stack,
so (1-0.4) since it should be (1-0,2)(1-0,2)

For example the lightning from 3ed on the GMB:
21 spellpower + basic chaos magic => 22 * 13 = 286 damage
20% from barrier, 20% from resistance, 30% from unicorns, 19% from artifacts:
(1-0,20)(1-0,20)(1-0,30)(1-0,19)=0,36288
286 * 0,36288 = 103,78368 (rounded up to 104)
3ed deals 104 damage to Grandmaster bowmen with the Lightning spell. 8 perish. |

and even in darkcanis's posts

so is it a decimal point or comma ??

They are just not originally English speaking. In most non English speaking countries you use the "," as a decimal separator. So it is both a comma and a decimal point.
I hope you understood what they meant anyway... |
