Author | Leave Q&A topics for at least a day |
I know, even though I'm a moderator of Q&A and Forum, that many questions and such are asked.
Recently, though, many questions in Q&A are being closed fairly quickly.
Ex.
What level i need to be to join thieve guild
Answer:(some random player) 6.
{1 minute later}
QATC.
{Close thread}
Now, what if someone's question is not thoroughly answered?
All Q&A mods received clan mail saying to lock questions that have already been answered.
Leave your opinions, please. |

a player may be looking for a quick answer after all |

It actually varies from topic to topic.
If someone asks, "What is the best equipment for my level?"
Then the only answer is "x and x and x item"
What else can you answer? I'm sure describing each item (x) is unnecessary with regard to the question asked. |
8. Topic is closed by forum moderator after the answer is given. ""We'd be grateful if the topicstarter himself writes that everything's clear and the topic should be closed.""
Thus, topics are closed if:
1. The answer is given (main condition).
1.1. - There's no activity for a long time.
1.2. - Flame or flood started.
1.3. - The topic is not related to this forum thread.
(This come from the local rules for QaH forums. As you can see, what I have put between "" speaks for itself. Mods should let the topic starter in most cases locked their own thread after saying they have got everything they wanted to know. That way no one will open a new topic with the same question again and ask for more explanation)
I suggest that the Head of QaH be a bit more understanding with new players, at least most questions are from newbies that have real questions to be answered and specific term can be hard to understand. |

At least leave it open a day or two.If its a quick one let the player themself close it. |

Use common sense. You dont need to have a RULE saying that every topic needs to stay for at least 24 hours..("How many beans can fit into a bottle?" "What is best choice for minimum AP at my level?") |
Mhmmm, common sense is in short supply at the moment ;)
But regarding threads in Q&A, I don't see why they should be closed at all. If people want to discuss things, they should be able to (even if replies given by Sages weight more) and if the conversation becomes interesting and lengthy, the thread can always be moved to General forum. |

No need for a rule. Common sense applies. |

Yeah why not? Too fast? Why need to race among other moderator?
Situation 1 : Sometimes a player got a question , Moderator answered. But the player still not understand then topic closed. Then the player make a new thread and moderator would said : no flooding in forum.
Situation 2 : A player have a question , a moderator answered. But the player not understand and ask again with more clearly. Then the player wait and sometimes log out about 1-10 minutes and see if his/her thread has been answered but suddenly the thread closed and the player still not understand. |
Sorry double post.
Leave Q&A topics for at least a day
Well at least 2-5 Hours is enough. No need to longer. |
Common sense or rule, it doesnt matter. Forum users and moderators should just work it out with little or no problems. If topics are inactive for some time, ie. a few days after replies are posted, it doesnt necessarily mean the topic can be closed. For those which require quick and fast answers, let the thread-starter decide if it were to be closed or not. And many more cases come about.
Its just tolerance by all sides: questioner, answer-giver, moderator. :) |
Ehh at least not too quickly, like right after the question is answered. |
