| Defense is best for everything if you play wizard with spells. On higher levels you might try mini arts without defense on some creatures but for now putting +def mini art on everything is probably the best option. |

No, defense is almost always better than health ( the only exception is when opponent is using magic against you - but most of the damage you take in the game is physical ).
Each point of defense roughly reduces the damage you take by 5% so the 3 defense mini art = 15% damage reduction from melee/ranged attacks. |
