Author | What can 1 GB download allowance do for... |
Can anybody tell me how long (in hours) will 1 GB download allowance last for:
(a) Battles in lordswm
(b) Battlenet warcraft2
How many times can I perform:
(c) Google search
(d) Check my gmail
(e) Visit facebook mail
again with 1 GB download allowance.
Thanks. |
I am looking for an approximation only and other examples not listed above will be grateful.
Thanks |
(c) Google search
(d) Check my gmail
(e) Visit facebook mail
I think more than you can handle.
For these two:
(a) Battles in lordswm
(b) Battlenet warcraft2
You should try yourself. If your service provider doesnt give you access to your traffic reports, try using some program that can do the trick for you.

I have never used such thing, my provider offered me 2GB which I sucked during first 5 days and had to switch to unlimited.. |
kinda depends on the use but 1 gb could probably last you 2 weeks using all those sites for like 3-6 hours a day. ofcourse depends on your use though. google search is so insignificant it won't matter unless you are clicking every link that appears...
i'm just guessing but you planning on getting mobile broadband? |
a) would most likely depend on how fast people are making moves, if they're taking a long time then you'll be receiving traffic less frequently than people who move faster
b) dont know
c-d-e) depends how big your emails are/how much data is in your inbox, 1GB really isn't much, but for searches/checking email/facebook it should be ok if the allowance is monthly (although it may not be), and I don't have a bandwith monitor so I dont know how much traffic lords/warcraft takes up |
also remember your internet bandwidth isnt solely on your computer, gaming consoles would also take bandwidth from your allocation, for example my router stats since it's last restart:
Internet connection configuration
Connection information
Connection time 2 days, 19:53:42
Data transmitted/received (MB) 641.12 / 10736.44 |
for Gyver:
(b) Battlenet warcraft2 would be your limiting factor. 1GB could be from 100-1000 hours.
Everything else would pretty much be unlimited.
for lcorndogl:
Are you reading your connection information correctly?
10736.44 MB over 3 days = 150 MB per hour (1200 Mb per hour)
You must be watching nonstop vids or downloading a lot. |
bandwidth allowance...rough, man...with my internet connection speed...I'd hit your allowance in less than 1.5 hours.
Good luck!
Cheers,

You must be watching nonstop vids or downloading a lot.
I'm a heavy internet user :)
PS3 demos/game updates/streaming videos from online catchup services rocks :D
Plus there's 4 other people on the network too |
oh and it's still under 3 days and it's now this:
Connection time 2 days, 23:42:14
Data transmitted/received (MB) 1109.15 / 18390.61
Just goes to show how fast bandwidth can go if you have a gaming console |
Warcraft2?
1 DotA game in WC3 battlenet(+-1 hour) used +-5MB |
you use 200 mb fast if you watch youtube for an hour or so.
1gb limit is not a lot. |
Oh, not even for checking emails..
if you read them, around 35mb per day or more if you have good business with it.
50 mb+ blow away for google search
200mb+ easy per day for a research nerd, eg assignment. |
If you play an mmorpg and let your character stand, it shouldn't burn up too quickly. If you use it to fight.. my highest record was a good 150mb burned up for hours of playing.. that was not even a day passed. Say, a whole morning or an afternoon. |
