Sorry if this has been suggested before, I didn't find any similar topics.
My idea is for a new type of group battle, balanced battle. Right now you can choose from evenly, optional, random, and all for one.
In balanced group battles everyone would join like random battles, but teams would be determined by a number of factors that would help both sides be more evenly matched.
Factors that would determine teams.
Level of each person, so that each side had a similar total level.
Ammunition points, again so that each side had similar ap.
Primary skills, luck, morale, initiative, guild levels, racial faction.
Troop count, or total army strength. Some formula must exist for this already as hunts have threat levels.
Some formula could be created so that teams would be determined in a way that each side was relatively evenly matched up. I know there is no way to ever make it exactly even, but if it was close that would be good enough.
I really like the randomness of random battles, but to often one side is much stronger than the other. In a balanced battle there would still be that randomness of how teams were determined but it would ensure they wouldn't be so lop-sided. The formula wouldn't need to be perfect, it would just have to divide teams close to as even as possible based on the players who joined. |
so it would juust be random team but evenly set out as to a matter of faction lvl, skills and ap and all the other things. i would give it a +1 because sometimes one team is way to strong +1 =) |

so true in events of one overpowering side in GBs. balanced battles will make randomness more fair and yet still save the spark of surprise. i like it =) |

With the number of players, high level players have problems joining a fair group battle. |
I had some more thoughts....the option of defining the factors that balanced the teams.
These 3 seem to me to be the most obvious.
Balanced by Level
Balanced by Ammunition points
Balanced by Army strength: damage output, defense, total hitpoints
You would have to select at least one but could select all if you wanted. Then whichever choice sorts the teams so that they are the most balanced is used.
Also it should state in game description the ways the teams will be balanced so that everyone knows and not just the person creating the game or anyone they tell. |

I agree on this part, I don't understand why people choose to create/join such a battle knowing full well they might not necessarily like the way the teams are split. That's pretty much the whole point. Right now there are 3 options, Evenly, Optional, and random.
Optional battles let you choose either side.
Evenly lets you join either side if you are the 3rd or 5th player to join and if you are the 2nd, 4th, or 6th you must join the side with an opening.
I have often seen that these battles are more uneven and unbalanced than random games because lets face it, when given the option most people will join the side that they think has the better chance to win. Because of this I have seen many games get stuck and never launch because one team has 2 players in full arts and the other team has a player with min AP, thus nobody wants to join that side.
So random is currently the best option as it is at least luck of the draw. Of course if you join a battle that is open to levels 1-14 or even 5-10, you are taking the risk/chance of being on a very weak team sure to win or a very strong team with little exp to go around.
The Balanced group battle would, at the time of launch, use some formula to divide players into teams that at the very least would minimize the chance for one team to be much more powerful/weaker than the other team. In the best cases it would create battles with players of different levels and with different AP with each team being evenly matched. Thus it would eliminate but a random battle is random so you cant be upset if you get draw the short straw |
