Author | troops ateration scroll bars |
Facts:
Lately more often it happens (and not on only one computer) that when I want to alter my troops the troops alteration scroll bar is moving, but my troops are not altered, so, I need to move up and down the scroll bar again until I get what I wanted.
Question:
Does anybody know if this is a game bug or this is a strange behavior of Flash?
It's not so crucial, but it became annoying (first time I got this problem, I entered the fight with only 3 druids instead of what I wanted, meaning, 8 of them :D).
(For moderators: this is not a bug report, but a question for the players about a certain game behavior. So, don't move this post from here. I will report a bug when I will have the confirmation that it is a bug.) |
sounds more like lag to me.
you said it doesn't work until you move the scroll bar up and down a few times. |
hasn't happened to me, although occasionally i forget to push submit xD. Anyone else had this? |
#2:
yeap. not all the time, but it started to become a habit lately. :D
it is not a lag because if i press submit, it accepts fast the command (leaving the troops unaltered). if it was a lag, when pressing submit, it would at least accept the changes. but it doesn't. |
what is strange, that this behavior i got it under both windows and linux (so, 2 different os'es with two different versions of flash). |
5: Windows and Linux were connected on same network?
If yes then you need to try on a different network to verify that it is not a network issue ( ping etc. )
I never had something like that, i've played the game through windows and linux too on occasion from various ips. |

Actually that still doesn't prove it wasn't lag. If it lags badly enough the changes might not register before you click the submit. The change commands could be lost in packet losses while the submit command could actually go through.
This type of situation I describe is one of the common result of lag.
This would also explain why sometimes you get this error and sometimes you don't. |
#6:
different providers, different networks.
i created a photo album with screenshots related to this subject:

it might be the scenario you spoke about. then, that means that the submit button doesn't make any check, but only says something like "operation concluded". so, in this moment i will wait to see if some other players got this as well, else i will live with this. |
I had that too .. I think that is because the Adobe Flash API (Applications Programming Interface) .. The bug at the Adobe Flash not at this game .. ^^ |
i had this once or twice. i assumed to be lag-related because my connection at that point was bad. |
use firefox and update your flash player |
yeah well it could be the browser also as Kiaune said
I play on Firefox mostly and Chrome also sometimes and never had problems, i barely use Internet "Exploder" anymore it crashes too often :) |
i don't use internet explorer. i use only firefox and my flash version is up to date in both cases.
the latest version of IE is at least one version of the w3c standard behind. firefox is the closest browser to the latest w3c standard. not to say that IE has security bugs (e.g., the multimedia applications from internet are playing in IE through ActiveX and that exposes Windows to different kinds of attacks). so, i always prefer firefox. |
I'm pretty sure that the troops ateration scroll bars is client-side.
The datas are only send to the server when you submit it.
Have you tried to clear your cache? |
#15:
under windows no. under linux i set to clear the cache all the time i am exiting (that's because i develop websites from time to time there). the problem persisted.
but, i agree, it may be at the client side. that's why i posted here this thread and i didn't go directly in the reporting a bug section. |
Maybe a plugin.
Have you installed/updated one recently?
If yes, try to disable them. |
here is a little suggestion that might discount some possibilities: try log in from a different PC/device and see if you get the same issue. |
my hunch is that the flash doesn't have enough resources in the moment i do the operation (windows is well known for getting slower in time and under linux i am working in the same time, so, it might be i have all my resources busy at that time) and that makes flash to not register the command. from the answers i got from the other players who experienced the same, i can conclude by now that my hunch is actually the problem behind that behavior. i will wait just a little bit more to have few more answers and i will close this thread. |
#18:
i repeat: different locations, different pc's, different os'es, different internet providers, different networks, different internet connections (adsl and t1). |
