People are always asking for money, and I've always said no up to this point. But after the last person asked I replied with this mail:
"Do you still need 7k? If so, here are my terms:
Upon agreeing to this contract, I will transfer 7k gold to you. You will then pay me 7.5k gold within one week from receiving the 7k gold. By accepting this deal, you will also agree to being banned from the game if you do not hold up your end of the contract.
These are my terms, take it or leave it."
So my question is, is this allowed? I haven't seen any rules explicitly forbidding moneylending for profit.
And if it is allowed, will you honor it by banning a person that fails to live up to his contract? Because, as a third year law student I know for sure that unless banking is explicitly forbidden in this game, a contract such as this is legally binding...

3.21. Any banking business or bookmaker activity is prohibited without gaining the appropriate license from Administration.
Banking business - granting loans with interest, receiving money from other players on deposit accounts or any other bank operations.
Bookmaker activity - taking bets on sports or other events with paying the winnings in money's worth.
To the best of my knowledge, noone has a license yet, although many applied. |

Ok. Consider this as my application for banking then. I will never charge unreasonable interests. As my mail showed, I mearly asked for a return of 7.5k within a week for 7k. To me this seems good for both parties.
Admins: Please give this some thought. I'm the right person for this, with proper knowledge of the legal ramifications and everything ;) |
4. Questions regarding penalties, unblock requests, and other kinds of communication with Administration are made with the help of Secretary (https://www.lordswm.com/pl_info.php?id=4). If your combat level is below the 3rd and you can't use the private mail - either raise your level or ask your friends or clanmates. Contacting the Administration via "Queries & Help" is SENSELESS.

| I have seen examples of loans such as described by odd-arild, and no action has been taken. I do not see what harm it would do to anyone to allow banking, but if the licence is free then you should apply for it anyway. |
i remember seeing someones profile that said something about

well as i peek at peoples logs i notice soooo many people lend cash.
This game is filled infact, with a sea of cheaters.
its ridiculous to think that this threat stops anyone from lending.
even high ranking people lend cash. if noone yet has a lending licence and this is a banable offence, then 80% of the players here are guilty.
since my clan request hasnt been answered, i will assume the game devs barely even look into the game..let alone the 'complaints' section of the forums.(where people list all the found cheaters.)
i personally wouldnt lend cash cause in two years when im high lvl and the admins do finally check in on peoples logs, i want mine to be clean. |
Ortan: Indeed. But, then trying to abide by rules is why I started this thread in the first place. Although, I'm afraid I already transfered my 7k to the person in question before I got any answers on this thread. But I have confidence that the admins won't penalize me for this as I made every attempt to clarify the current legal status of such actions. The person that wanted the money, was however in a hurry, and sent me 3 separate replies telling me that he wanted the gold ASAP and would honor my terms.
Now however, I am aware that I cannot make such contracts without permission from the admins. And I will abide by this in the future. |
