AuthorThe "OMG teh mercainary qust beat meh!" thread
I just got to level 5, and I thought... let's do some mercenary quests. I foolishly tried one at level 2, and got destroyed by a 1800 hp Demon. It wasn't a pretty site.

My most recent experiences include:

1) Elf grandmaster bowmen, Treefolk and upgrade Keepers crushing me in 2 turns.

2) 14 Genies taking 5 turns to kill only to be reinforced by another 42 more. Let me just say, things didn't go well after that.

3) Crappy uber-ogre with 1900 hitpoints killing my troops agonisingly slow as he did crap damage. However, I ran out of arrows, mana and hp. Toop him down to 800 hp though.

And then, my most shining moment, just after the elite elf battle. I thought, will I ever get a quest I can actually do? And then I had to kill 100 goblins... stupid mercenaries and their ridiculously random difficulty. I wish I could attack the guild. Grrrr...

Im a lvl 5 elf too. I was able to beat the first quest. knights vanguards or something like that. I feel very lucky and tried another. I got massacred by knights brigand :( those cavalries beat the hell out of me :(
not every quest could be done by lvl5
The truth is - not every quest could be done by lvl6, lvl7 or higher either :)
Necro is easiest on merc quest because of raise dead, ghost n vampire.

No other class have the ability to regain troops in combat, very unfair for merc quest.
my first(currently only) merc quest was against wizards. i was lvl 2 and so i got stoned
i tried about 15 merc quests, and i won 3... one i could win, but i had connection problems and i could not finish the battle...

i met 3 or 4 1800 hp monsters.. no way to beat them...

some deliver quest, and i always got killed...

one raid, vs goblins, that i won, and a couple or armies, that i lost (even if second time i was near to win.. maybe i played bad the first round)

then the GM bowmen, that i won 2 times over 4 attempts... i lost the first 'cause enemy attacked too much before i could start, and the second for the connection problem, when i was in a good situation...

the good thing is that being almost always at 0 reputation, defeats don't make any damage to it... :P
to 1. so dont try monsters that are higher than lvl4 (druid/ogre/vamp...)
and if you fight giant monsters go only on rqngers(not orcs)

to 2. masacred by knight brigands? i thought eles are strong^^ i owned knight brigands and i am level 5 too =P

easy quests are vanguard of dark elves(you just have to defend the GM of bow)
vanguard of knights and vanguard of wizards(kjust kill gremlins first)
or raids of levle 1-2 monsters :-)

I'm 5th lvl knight. I won 33 merc quests and lost about 2 times more.
According to my experience, few quests are easy, but other are very complicated.
So if you see a hard quest the best way is not to take it.
don't know if it's better not to take it... i mean.: if you refuse, you lose some reputation... so, maybe, better to try... even if defeated, you get some skill points....
i gained a few rep points, but i lost them as if you lose a quest you lose rep points.. my tips are......
the merc quests that say you have 3 attempts in so many minutes.. go try them but the 1st and 2nd time don't equip any arts as you lose durability,and if you die thats a waste.. each time you do these quests they sometimes reduce the monsters or the hp of the monsters, and on your third attempt equip the good stuff and fight like hell..hopefully you can win that 1..
another tip..look at the title before accepting merc quest then look in some higher lvl's combat logs to see if you can find out who you may be fighting..
i've passed a few quests but lost a lot,so i don't mind you all looking in mine for instance...
and the thing i never do now adays is take wizard quests..they are evil :)
but make sure you have good defence and attack etc. arts on b4 taking 1..

i'm accepting all the "delivering" quest, hoping to have the luck of an uneventful travel.... never happened, but i keep on trying... :P

very usefull info about quests. But its on russian :P
I use this to know what wait me on current quest and agree or disagree it.
If you disagree quest, yes you lose reputation, but next quest will be given to you on 20 min (instead of 40). So just choose completable quests.
On that sait you can see an examples of fights on all quests, so if you can't make your strategy, copy it from those who know what to do.

and use arts on that quests if you want to do it on 5 lvl.
on vanguards u dont need arts they are extreamly easy(on first levels)
from my experience )

I start do MG quest on lvl 4, but now I see its better to start from lvl 6-7, coz in thise case U spend less time and money.. the way to start MG from lvl 4-5 only if U don't care about money and will rise skill of army any cost.. when U won, lvl of Monster rise and U have spend more and more money on art )
i just wasted the wizard army that i said was hard to do.. but thanks to triptrix's advice about when you kil some things in the first 2 attempts they stay dead i put on my arts and killed as much as i could.. in the 1st attempt i did rubbish justy broke down the gremlin engineers defence,but in the 2nd i took out the gremlins,magi,and gremlin engineers and damaged the genie slightly so that there was no ranged opponants for the 3rd attempt..in the 3rd attempt that was very easy i just cleaned up.. but i had arts on for all 3..so i used a lot of durability.. but victory was mine :)
