maybe..., concerning independancy, the rule follows that of morale and luck (i.e. commulative build-up until it triggers).
if so, all possible actions might have different effect on the probabillity of a stack running off and making you pull your hair out in dispair!
..and from what I have seen so far:
All stacks start with 0% risk of independancy, and attacking with a stack resets the probability of that stack's next move to 0%.
This leaves creature actions "move", "defence", "wait" and "use ability", and from my experience it is rankes:
use ability < defence < wait < move (without attack)
- in regards to which action adds the LEAST to the probability of independancy for the given stack's next turn.
i usually started my games by moving my cavalery one step forward - and could not make them stay there more than a few turns after that - while defending straight away left them standing significantly longer...
then there is the shooter-issue... and apparently they follow a different pattern and are from my experience impossible to control :D
actions of shooters may rank:
use ability < move < wait < defence
one last interesting observation is that attack may not only reset the probability of the given stack's waywardsness but also reduce the probability of independancy of allied troops... - as it seems as soon as you start attacking with one stack the rest are not likely to be independant (except shooters!?)

it might be cumulative ... but it's not like luck/moral where each stack has its own counter. it accounts for all stacks+hero. otherwise we casters would have been doomed!
another thing that i have noticed is that it also accounts the amount of damage you're dealing! for example if i keep hitting with my hero or with a small stack, it may result in independence (and interestingly enough it won't trigger hostility against the AI team)
this is getting too complex! the variables are too much to be able to figure out for sure how independence works! and sometimes it can make it damn difficult to figure out the teams in tourny!

true, its getting too complex! :) hope that someone soon reveals the big secret...
it can be hard to guess who's who - but I had blue as human fairly soon in your game. mainly because of "spreading of troops" to avoid mass damage - AI doesn't - also attacking of multiple enemies is usually AI, final evidence is hero suddently waiting after casting damage - havent seen AI do that they usually go all in after first blood.
..and now also some pointers to the admins ;) |

what confused me is that
1) demon kept casting D-ray on his team mate! even though he was under attack from the other AI team!
2) AI necro hit his team mate (elf) a few times even though he could hit other units! |
Is it me or AI always attack necros? It doesnt seem to matter whether i am alt-necro or the original one. I always get attacked first this tournament, even before waywardness hits me... |

post 155 may be true about casters. in last battle I waited/defended A LOT! but for some reason when my units were getting independence they would either wait or defend!
so perhaps they have changed how independence works for casters, cause I'm sure a few days ago on my first battles my gargs were charging ahead like mad when they were hit with independence! |
I think AI does not have Independence. In my last battle, we killed the two team AI, and my human fellow dies, because of my independence, it was around 10-12 round when AI Wizard did nothing, only cat by Djinn, the Knight AI only did Cavalry one step forward during the whole game, they only moved when i attacked them. But when i waited with my stacks, my last stack from turned independent, soon enough huh? If I could avoid independent like AI's I would have max ponts. |

then how would you explain two AI of the same team attacking each other? even though there are other players left on the field for them to hit! |

yes but if i move also than also it is playing by itself and in next matches it played 5-6 times even if i am moving also they are hitting or going in the range of army so what can i do for it now?? because of which 1 los 2 battles first only as i am going in the range and then all are hitting me :( |

I don't think the AI teams are predefined - they usually attack eachother in the beginning. Don't know when they "find out"... but they always do :)
As to the never ending independance discussion... It seems that AI is not affected by independance. my troops keep running off in turn 3 the latest. have tried every combination of actions (def, wait, move, use ability) while attacking with hero...:-/ |
try sacrifing one stack :)

Sometimes all of em pick on you. Not your mistake. Just hard luck. :P
I've had a battle in which an AI elf was targeted by all De and Wiz casters with fireballs in the second turn and in that turn itself he got defeated. Surprisingly his own team mate DE also attacked him :P

What I faintly made out is that initially all casters did not use Hero Initiative increasing Arts. Or they did use but it had no effect. But now casters have 11.5 Initiative as well. :P I guess that's what makes sense. |
