1. No questions are noob.
2. It's definitely NOT for money(gold). as you definitely tend to lose a lot in LeG, especially if you opt for 1.5 LeG battles.
3. It's just for fun, a different part of game,
4. As of now, one major benefit : Level 9 LeG grants you 1% initiative
5. If you develop your LeG well you can take part in events that specialize in these kind of battles and try to gain a decent gold in that, artifact for achievement, armaments, and points for clan (which in turn gains you better creatures for LeG) |

I felt that too :P
Sometimes few battles are like barely 100 loss on gold after deducting everything.
after that soon enough few battles will be 600-700 loss on gold |
I haven't felt that and I use the same set up many levels now.
Only time I feel this is when leveling up and that is till I find the better amount of troops in my stacks. |

Same here. Every 3-4 profitable battles I get to chose from 3 battles that I know will end in a big loss of gold. |
