What do you think about thiefing? Is it better to start at lvl 7 or do quests and hunts and become thief at 8?

I got the impression that for us wizards, the earlier we start the easier it will be. I was originally going to wait til lvl 8 and get triple mini arts, but I decided to work on it at lvl 7. With full arts, I haven't lost a battle yet. Hopefully, that continues til I get to guild lvl 2.


I got a question for wizards around my lvl. What artifacts do you use to get the minimum AP requirement (8). I've been using combat staff and defender shield (its actually 9 AP). Although now its quite hard to get a defender's shield and people are charging ridiculous amounts at the market. So I'm looking for a cheaper yet effective combination.
Ok thx eektor. U think it would be much harder without upgreded gargs? And about arts - I use axe, hauberk and defender shield. And when I have some MH arts i use them instead of hauberk. Not sure if it's the cheapest way...
At lvl 8 I use combat staff and amulet of luck for most of my fights. That is AP8.
I think it probably works out cheaper just to use a reprisal sword instead of the staff though...

Although the enchanted gargoyles are a big improvement, I think the most important is that you have full arts for your level. Also, when you start losing some you might want to consider using minimum arts and lose a few to lower the difficulty of the caravans.

Although I said I wanted cheaper, I kind of like arts that actually help a wizard out, like the combat staff with the +1 spell power. That +1 spell power translates into an extra 32 points on my magic arrow in hunts and if I get the chance to use it 11 times that's 352 extra points of damage. I think I'll try out the amulet of luck with the combat staff.

Defender shield is still the best choice even at higher prices sold at the market. It's normal cost is around 27g/battle. If they sell it for say 400g more than the 3300g shop price this adds to every charge 10 more gold, making it cost like 37g/battle. You won't find such a useful item ( for a wizard ) that costs less than that per charge in any case.
About miniarts. I see most people recommend to make them when you can make double miniarts at FS4. But since we can dismantle them with only 10% commission lost, whats the harm in making them earlier? Which brings up next area of thought. If we do decide to make single miniarts, say either Defence+4 or Attack+4, which is more suitable for Golems? For Gargs?
You should be able to nab a defender shield after the shift since you can only buy one at a time
Creating early mini arts will not cost you too much indeed. After all single mini arts are rather cheap and 10% of that is more or less trivial. If you do make them though just make hit points or defense ones for all creatures, at low levels all damage comes from spells so the point of mini arts would be to help you survive longer.

I have tried several times. When it gets to xx:39 I constantly refresh the page and as soon as I can press 1 and enter and I have yet to get it. I finally caved in and bought one at what I considered a ridiculous price. (And that is something because I hate the resellers with a passion, and will do my best not to support them. Heh, if I was able to get shields consistently I would flood the market with shields at factory price + commission. /rant off)
Don't refresh constantly, take your computer watch and try out some minutes before the shift ends at which second the server time is set to the next minute, then you have to refresh only once, when the shift realy ends.

if you do get the shields, sell them at slightly discounted price compared to offers on the market. You would then make some profit and at the same time, keep the rice bowls of defender shield sellers....hehe....

All of them, assuming you get the talent to learn lvl 3 light magic. Otherwise, only lvl 1 & 2.
what shop arts should wizards wear for the coming tourment? any idea?
Hi - after ur advice, that earlier you start, easier the thief ambushes are I just started thiefing, and I have a question. I won only about 20 ambushes, and caravans became very hard (always wearing full arts) At such a low lvl, I've lost 5 so far:

Could you tell me if I'm doing any serious tactic mistake, or maybe it's just normal that at such a low thief lvl ambushes are so hard?
