elves are among the best if the strategy is correct.
all here are from my experience up to level 6:
1. wizards are pretty strong, but they are slow.
2. demon has many troops, watch out for their magic (they can be more dangerous than wizards), but they pass by one turn by performing gating.
3. dark elves are weak at level 5 and 6.
4. knights are weak excepting the swordsmen which are slow and can be reduced by the lightning bolt.
5. necromancers are fragile due to their usual strategy: they cannot raise faster than you kill.
6. barbarians are weak in defence; they can be killed by initiative (attack first - orcs are weak shooters).
did i miss anything? i hope not. :)

try this at level 5, almost impossible for demon to win. level 3-4 its fair game. 6, demon usually wins. 7, usually demon. 8 is fair game.
1-2 depends if fks hit each with 4-5 or 2-3. fair game. |

Demon here. Gating is a weapon that works again opponent errors. If you build a tight defense, gating is just spending a round to gather more units. If you left a little hole in your defense, expect demons to gate there, forcing you to waste time to cover it before they come.

Just another fight I had vs a wizzy with *perfect template* this time - max ini on mages + 7 defence on gargs + TG2 + MG2 etc :

but if i were him:
i would finish the sprites first
and gargs stay far away from danger
why he charged the druids (he has 75 mana)
and got into their range?
why he chose to arrowthe druids rather than elven?
its his mistake :P |
Why did he go with a 'closed' setup, and then ruin it by running the gargs out? Why did he kill his own engineers instead of using spells with the magi? Why attack the druids at all when they aren't a serious threat when a single stack? Why didn't he use the usual threat range of sprites first, then bowmen, then forest keepers, and druids last?
So many questions. |

Luck is usually preferred by elves. If you get luck+critical hit at the same time, you will end up doing massive damage. For me, that was enough of an incentive to have luck over morale at level 5.

Usually ranged units are kept as favoured enemy (except in case of DE where you will do better to have rogues/shrews as favoured enemy). |

For wiz also don't take the shooter as favoured enemy. Pick Magi or some other unit. |

talens: basic erudition, basic intellect
miniarts:
magi - 8% ini, 2 morale(very good choice !) - perfect ?
gargs - 7 defence 4 hps - perfect ?
golems - 2 luck 7 defence - I would exchange luck for hps :P
I think +2 morale for magis made the game ;d

Yeahh .. if the wizards want to play more offensive, it is hard to elves to win . but if the elves have soldiers luck .. i think the favoured will die faster .. then elves have chance to win .. it is 50 - 50 I think.
To Ami : Good jobs .. i watched ur battle in every 1 for 1 self against 2 knights and 1 DE .. very well done !

Soldier's Luck does not trigger critical hits more often. It ONLY triggers a unit's special abilities (if it's not already a 100% trigger ability). For elevs, soldier's luck will of no use till we get Granmaster Bowmen with their non-100% trigger ability knocking shot. |
but if the elves have soldiers luck than the elf is either a noob or a masochist. Or he's got 3rd upgrade and feels like experimenting :P |
