Max griff, then max swords and the rest bowmen is the best layout for your level. Also, escort is a great talent to bring. |
This is getting to be ridiculous! Why do the enemy cyclops in all my TG battles take out my griffs first even when my crossbows are still alive!? They never do that in any other type of battle!!! I've now lost 6 amubushes in a row! :-|
What's the best talent combo to use for thieving at level 10? I;m only 7 wins away from TG 3 and all these losses (most of them not even close) are just so demoralizing! Any and all tips on how to be an effective thief at this level would be greatly appreciated!

I'm level 10 too, and the reason the Cyclops is attacking your Griffins is coz it sees the Grif as its biggest threat. The reason being you splitting your xbows to small stacks. You should know that even in hunts, neutral creatures will switch their attention to the Griffins once they have bought the xbows down to size, to no longer pose a threat.
If you want the Cyclops to stay away from your other troops for the first 1-3 turns, don't split your xbows to so many stacks (not sure about 2 stacks though).
I have almost never split my xbows in TG, and the Cyclops have always attacked them.
Here's 2 of my lvl 10 Barbs ambushes I found. Though I lost them both (I think I might have won some at this level, but really dun wanna search thru all my logs. :p)

As for talent, I'm using Rally + Escort + Basic Defense + Basic Offense for now (medium arts). All talent points used up and I get a little of everything. Depending on your arts and tactics, you might have to tweak the talents a little though.
Note that I'm only using medium arts (Defender shield + Steel set + SoM + Luck Amulet) since I reached level 10 to bring my TG difficulty down atm. I didn't go min arts coz I don't wanna lose 10-20 ambushes in a row, coz that can be pretty frustrating.
Anyway, while it's not a breeze, it's also not hard to get to TG4, so keep the faith, fellow knight!

One reason I was splitting my x-bows was the rage factor on the guards and to keep the lightning away from my key troops for longer. However, I see from your two examples, Jedi, that I don't have to worry about not getting max rage on my guards so i'll try that against knights, barbs... the "non-lightning" factions ;). Thanks for the tips! |

dark build in min ap fight against another lv10 knight. well, he has lower faction level which result him out of numbers on troops + deal less dmg AND perhaps he has some special way on troops settle.
but, the confusion do work well on kicking his guardians, its retaliation only kill 1 guardian.

Well... You may take different ways:
basic defence+vitality+escort
basic attack+battle fury (should be good for MinAP)
there is another build with 'rally' perk, but i don't like this at all... It gives only numbers, not quality.
Or, you may try luck, if you like random)

1st variant - stable damage, 2nd may work better, but also may don't work at all. I've used archers, recruits are good for 'everyone for oneself'

Reprisal sword, df shield, medal of bravery. A bit more expensive, but will give additional +1def. |
