But some players make millions by playing in GC what's their secret?

small bits of skill.
There's little to no skill in tavern lol. Simply luck. There are players who lose millions and players who win millions.

It does not take much brain to play the card game, simply knowing the rules and cards (common sense).

I can beat a player who wins 20million + and also lose to players who lose 20 million +

To most players who win millions, I feel it is from the tournaments. Tournaments are easy way to get gold and frankly better chances to get gold rather than from regular card battles.

Thanks for sharing the secret with me :D
Based on what I saw, people got lot of profile with regular card game than tournament.
Yeah, the ones who win in 10's of millions play a lot of 20-25k games

Look at this person now
Literally looting from tavern.
hardly won 10 tournaments
let's say he got 2 mil from those.. which is a huge leap!
still has 28 mil winnings

for Marquis Thornwald:
So, what were you saying earlier :O
Never mind :)

A 30 millions balance in 700 millions total bets is roughly 4% profit ie small bits of skill.
Even if you take the highest balance player:
https://www.lordswm.com/pl_info.php?id=87159

He is barely above 55% win rate.
for Marquis Thornwald:
And a lot of his winnings are from tournaments. 20 sunny city cup wins holy crap lol.

These 2 days I won 50k+, but there are days when I would lose 10 games in a row.
Really depends on luck heavily.
Also I would avoid playing with players that have over 5 million winnings.
There are rumors of "scripts" and "hacks" that work in tavern. Again, those are just rumors. I met a few very fishy players which seems like they knew my cards; but it could be a coincidence too.

Anyway, do whatever u want and best of luck

It doesn't take a genius to see a dragon coming miles away.

That's ok though, some people simply can't imagine that others can overperform them because of something else than luck or cheats.

best of luck

Yeah, good luck.
Every newbie can keep an eye on the dragon.
I even calculate the amount of mana, ore my opponent has
How much of a tower can he build at max
If there is a chance he might get to 50.. I play the tower damage card accordingly if I have one..

I keep an eye on resources.. I play the parity and mine equal after waiting 2-3 turns even if my opponent has +1/2 mines/monastery higher than me

I only play the +1 to all mines/barracks card if
1) my opponent has way more mines and barracks than me
2) I have a lot of red/green accordingly

I would play the - 1 to all if I think my opponent is hoarding and I can afford fewer mines/mana

I keep building my wall higher than enemy whenever it's possible but I don't build it too high.. I save some wall cards just in case for a shift.. If I have the shift card, I hold that and build endlessly

If I have an equalizer, I hold the card in cases like if I have 9 monastery and my opponent has 1-3

I also calculate the amount of resources I would need to demolish the opponent's tower or grow mine more than 50.
I collect the resources and hold my cards while keeping and eye on which color cards the opponent is playing and what is he saving. Till then I keep attacking his resources

I always try to use the discard card to I get more chances of getting better cards

I keep these things in mind.. I might have forgotten to list a few.. but seriously.. it's 99% luck. Roulette is better and less frustrating.
for Marquis Thornwald:
Like I said, these are rumors. I myself would not accept challenges from players who won millions, for that reason. If u want to, go ahead lol
Luck definitely impacts a card game. Unlike chess, there is no predetermined order in which cards are dealt out. But it is not just luck. These games are different from games like snakes and ladders because our choices impact the outcome. It is a combination of choice and chance.

"Some poker games are considered a game of chance, but only if that poker game is vs the casino/house, for example, three-card-poker. Any poker games vs other players is considered a game of skill. The same players win/lose consistently for a reason."

I think the same argument holds here. In most of my losses, of which there are many, I always regretted not playing something or not paying attention to something.
Like I said, these are rumors.

You are spreading it, which equals giving credit to it. I don't go and repeat every unfounded rumor I heard of.

Obviously playing against the best tavern players incurs a greater chance of losing money as they know how to win consistently.
I always regretted not playing something or not paying attention to something.
If this was the case every time, it would be okay!
but 80% of times.. there is no better way..

I even discard cards just to make my opponents believe I am hoarding on x-resources
but in reality, I don't have any x-cards

What I am curious about is whether the discarding of a specific cards plays a role in what card you get next
Not even just discarding, I am also curious if the next card is affected by what card I chose to play, This is the only possible explanation that I have come up with, why some people are better? they just know what card to discard/play to get the card they want!

If this is not the case, It's 98% luck.
The percentage (also unclear what the percentage is for exactly) is not so easy to calculate. Even for well-studied games like poker, I found only a few in-depth articles which attempt to quantify luck and skill. This is the best approach to tackle this question I could find - https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/BF02579073#page-1 (use https://research.tilburguniversity.edu/files/455915/PB31____.PDF if your library does not subscribe to Springer)

The difficulty is also related to defining luck and skill precisely to be able to calculate the probabilities. I found some fascinating discussion here - https://statmodeling.stat.columbia.edu/2014/08/14/luck-vs-skill-poker/
tbh, tavern can't even be compared to poker!
One of the most important skill in poker is reading the opponent which is kind of impossible here..
Even bluffing is pointless to an extent
two major aspects of poker = void here
even the probability calculation, almost every card in tavern has the same probability of appearing(based on what I know)

I don't see the relevance :D
perfect day to the play the event :P
void here
You called? :P
for Void_Moon:
hahaha :P
