| Do Americans use the term sweetie for people or is just a UK thing?I ask as my understanding was that while we call confectionary sweets, and so may ask, "do you want a sweetie?" in the US you call them Candy, or candies. So could you call a girl your candy? I seem to recall a song by The presidents of the United states along those lines. |

Obviously, sweetie usually have two ways of use if not used from a couple, one is sarcastic/dismissive and the other is slimy, I didn't think you where hitting on him. :P
I don't think it's a USA - UK only term, it is used also here -in the Greek word of course- and I believe it is used in many other countries too. |
