Hmm.. here's Arctic's TG stats -

Thieves' guild: 3 (376) +24

Will he makes it to TG4 and get his TGI before the deadline? Needs 24 wins in approx. 15 days.

Let the 400,000g race begins. :)

Though I hope he makes it, I personally feels he.... won't. :/

I had 1 succesfull ambush today out of 3. n the old one i would have easily beaten the last demon one, but i also positioned my units badly.

Now i changed to necro and see how that will work out.

I am determined to make it btw.
i'm the only one who think that like this new map for TG ?

Now i win a lot more that before.
i reached TG3 5 days ago with this battle:

i managed to do 52 ambushes since i'm at TG3, if i can continue like it i will reach TG4 2 or 3 days before 1st december.

i think with the new map makes archer much more useful
something like those battles i just played were never possible before (since the enemy had a very short way to your archer which gives your archer more time now. Also it reduces the overall effectiveness of shrews who were really overpowered before imho)

I dont feel that Shrews were overpowered before, since I have them myself. But Im so sick and tired of the caravans I meet. Im at lvl 7 and get fights like necros with 10 lvl 6 guys, 30 vampires and 20 ghosts.
Or DE with 56 shrews, 8 hydras and 23 rogues...
Or Knight with 37 xbowmen, 30 bowmen, 11 calvs and 50 swordman.
Or wizard with 100 upgr gargoyles, 30 upgr golems, 40 normal golems, 3 lore keepers and 12 magis... with the heroes spellpower on 10 and mana on 100, thats god darn impossible...

Any tips for how I should build my thief? I play with max arts but still no go, Im at 15 attack, 14 def, 0 spell power, 1 knowledge and 13 initiative atm.. (0 luck, 2 morale)...

Tips PLEASE! or ill have to switch back to elf again...
Yeah by the way, I've donated like 250-350 euros to this game, THIS MONTH, to be able to have fun in TG. All that is pretty much destroyed with those caravans and stupid 1 hour penalty to do a new one..

I read here somewhere that the lesser artifacts, the lesser caravan? Is that true? if so why bother with artifacts at all, players are easy to beat anyway with shrews...

no, it's much easier
if you win, caravan difficulty increases
if you lose, caravan difficulty decreases

so it doesn't matter if you wear full or min arts, on the long run you will pretty much have the same win/loss ratio vs caravans
of course with full arts it will take longer when you begin thiefing until you reach the point where your win/loss becomes about 50%
so you have to deal with that penalty anyway
In the short run, it definitely matters what you do. If you want to win, then use everything in your disposable unless it's too cost prohibitive.

In the long run, nothing matters. Due to the difficulty adjustment, in theory you can win with only 1 shrew, no talents, and min AP arts. The problem is that you will have to lose to many caravans first before you can beat them using some extremely weak army.

I've looked at your last ambush against DE. Here are a few advices.
First, split your shrews in multiple equivalent stacks.
This way, you won't overkill all that much but your ennemy will.

second, change your troop setup.
Cornered shrews is useless in the big map.
I would advice putting lizards in the middle of a line (not the right one because of hero) and put shrews stacks near your lizards to clear their way.
I want the old map back.

Hm. I heard otherwise. I thought the difficulty of a particular type/formation of caravan is decreased only once after a loss. Consecutive losses don't decrease it any further.

Actually consecutive losses of the same type of caravan keeps decreasing the difficulty. And the reverse is true for winning. This is why those wearing enchanted full arts get troops as high as 3-4 times than the players wearing min arts. But obviously you need to win tens of times (same type) to get such difficult caravans or lose tens (same type) for easy caravans.

In my experience, this doesn't seem to be entirely true. I used ambushes in min arts to raise secondary factions (before the update), and have had long streaks of losses to caravans. It seems to me that there is a minimum size for each caravan, dependant on combat level only. Once this size is reached, it doesn't decrease further.
The minimum size caravan is usually beatable with no arts and pretty low faction level, however. I had trouble as necro, but I was also not using extra skeletons and I've never built any magic guilds (magic is for chumps!).

I think that became your minimum caravan size because you stopped losing. If you had kept on losing, maybe your caravan sizes would have decreased much further. After reaching that point did you lose a few hundred caravans just to make sure that your caravans hit rock bottom?

Doesn't matter really, you've been a thief since more than 4 months ago, yet you only manage to get 40 points so far, don't think you can make it to return the TGI with any faction, no offense.
