For me I got. Cannon very early on and have found it useful. IT brings in enemies close to shooters and with DoF active, against a large target and with a luck hit they have done 800 damage without any upgrades. As such I think well worth the 80 gold for the first. I am now at 80% and will get a second before I got for the remaining troops. I think it depends on your build and how you play as to the value of them.
For me most enemies are easy, though I am very vulnerable to darkness casters, as they completely nerf my harpooners damage with curse and confusion which is what I rely on to control the engagement and deal with the inevitable big killer stacks which are hard to target as their retaliation will one shot most troops |
I’ve had 5 losses so far, only 1 loss after changing to UN+Darkness(could’ve won if I was not too cautious about mummies and started using them a little early) but I’m happy with my score and strategy so far

Those sphynx mummies are the best troops for this event. Also, can you post one or two more links of your battles ?

Not true, you can use these mummies to raise themselves if you need to.
But again, some battles are made to be lost so you'll lose these mummies anyway. |

Do you have a net cannon yet? I think as the numbers hit a critical level strategy has to change. There will be increasing number of stacks which can one hit anything, and need to be whittled down, effectively meaning something is needed which has no retal, or ranged attacks. Furthermore this stacks needs neutralising so as to not boss over everything else in the interim - ie essential nature of net thrower.
Not that I am there yet, I am at 30/33 but at armourer still. I may need to rethink my build etc as I progress (though likely time will limit me more than anything else) |
Yes, my first purchase was the net cannon, which I got a loong time ago.
I was senior boatswain at around 50~? battles and I'm now normal boatswain at 70.
My difficulty fluctuates a lot though. Every one in battles can still be mirrored, while some are impossble from the start. |

Yeah i also have stuff like this. Some battles i have to play perfect and get lucky to win. Others are just no. And some can just rush in like mongol |

I am at 90% and 2 unupgraded cannons
I certainly will aim for net before I get 100% army, I already have max top tier, so not so much benefit from the extra 10%.
The question is do I use 5k and get rid of my second cannon to get it approx 4 battles eariler, or just wait those 4 battles. I guess I Will evaluate as to how difficult the battles are without it when I get to senior boatswain. |

I have found normal cannons to be useless except when playing TDE. |
