Author | New Faction: The Cruzandra. |
hmm a faction with live creatures, elementals and undead(?), so -1 morale penalty will be active if hero took tire 1 right | @ Poison Ivy, If I understand the game mechanics correctly, which isn't necessarily true, having undead troops allied with living ones doesn't necessarily cause negative morale. If this was true, then it would make sense for when doing multiplayer anyone allied with a necromancer would have negative morale. Negative morale is caused when a previously living troop who had perished is brought back to life. If you go to the "about the game" section, then go to "special abilities" undead is at the top. There is nothing in the description that implies negative morale is applied to allied living creatures. However, if you go to the spells section, the spell Raise Dead implies in its definition that ressurecting a previously living troop causes allies to receive -2 morale. I believe this to be the case, and if not, well, they can always just give the Cruzandra a faction ability that ignores the penalty. :)
-Blade | +1 this is a great idea for making this game even more interesting... keep it up and lets just hope the admins know what they are doing | @Lord freak_master, Thanks for your support :)
-Blade | + | + | I haven't been on and commented in a while, so I felt it would be nice if I came on here and just said a little about the new faction I'm making. I don't want to give too much away, so I'll just say they're very different from the Cruzandra, but this difference creates a parallel between them (whoa, that was really deep). Anyway, I've done about ten pages of it in Word (sounds like a lot more than it is because of formatting and layout) and I'm at almost 2250 words. I've got three tiers fully done, as well as the unique faction ability (abilities?) and I'll hopefully get the time to finish the rest soon. If I cant finish it soon, I'll definitely be able to finish it once I'm done with all my finals (and since I'm from New York, Reagents Exams as well). But I digress, and it is at this point I must bid thee (I'm watching Shakespeare for English right now) farewell, and a good morrow.
-Blade | Loving it =) +1 | Upheaval'z Abilities Must Affect Allied Stacks Too .. To Make It a lil Bit More Realistic ..
The Sacrifices Are Too High In Rituals and Some Of Them Take Very Long Time
Like Ruin .. 6 TURNS !!
SomeTimes a Whole 3vs3 Battle Ends In 4 or 5 Turns ..
Not Mentioning 1vs1 Battles or Hunting .. These Rituals are Useless ..
Also The HP Of Tier 4 Creature Is Too High .. U Can Decrease Its HP Instead Players Get More Creature Count - Tell Us Abt Recruit Count To Solve This Out ..
Also U Didn't Say Anything Abt Talents ..
You Did a Really Nice Job .. Forgive Me For Bieng Pessimistic .. I Always see Only The Negative Side In EveryThing :) | @ElvishW,
Thank you for taking an interest in my thread, and I would like to address the points you made.
In relation to the Upheaval ability, I thought in terms of the Elite Forest Keeper's Wardance ability, which only damages adjacent enemy stacks. Albeit if you think about it logically, it is far harder to control the explosive power of a giant wyrm coming out of the ground than the fine blade of an elf,so your idea would make sense. I can assure you as I made this faction I thought through practically everything, and I decided it would be better to have it only damage enemies, as it would get quite annoying if you were using it for more basic functions (e.g. moving it to protect your archers, but the ability ends up killing the archers). Bearing this in mind, I made the Glacius' and Azarath's Melt and Avalanche damage allies as well as foes, to make it fairer.
As for the long length of the Rituals, I must disagree. Ruin is an ultimate ability, and should take a long time to cast. It forces the player to make a decision whether it would be more logical and effective to play it turn by turn and use spells strategically, or invest all their turns into one stupendous spell. So, if you are casting Ruin you may want to play more defensively in order to survive to when your spell can do a horrific amount of damage. As for hunts, well just don't use that ritual in hunt if you're one of those cool people who slaughters everything in three turns :)
The HP of the tier 4 creature was a calculated decision. The ice golem (and it's upgrades) plays a specific role in the army, and it's sole purpose is that of a tank. Low attack, high defense, decent damage, and pathetic speed and initiative. I feel it's exorbitant stats of health and defense but low speed and attack will lead to some interesting strategies by both sides of the battle; target it with spells to bypass it's defense, leave it until the end of battle, or try to kill it with high initiative troops before it can move? I just felt like it would add a fun aspect to combat.
As for recruit count, I would never be so brazen as to actual post that. I will go as far as saying that I can create a balanced faction stats and abilities wise, but without testing I could never give a decently accurate creature recruit count. I would have to play around with different builds for hours (which is something I am unable to do, since these creatures don't actually exist in game) before I'd feel comfortable posting any kind of recruit counts. If one of the creature seems too powerful, the troop count can be reduced or he stats could be nerfed a bit.
As for your comment about talents, thats just a matter of "ok, should the attack talents cost 8,9, or 10?" It's really not important enough to me to post anything about it, and the Cruzandra doesn't lean strongly in any direction, so I'd pretty much be pulling numbers from a certain bodily cavity, and that's not necessary. Feel free to create your now talent prices for the talent wheel, I'd be interested to read your ideas. :)
I hate to seem like I am obstinate and completely regecting your ideas, so I just want to say you did make some valid points, some of which I had pondered myself, but I did everything I did for a reason, which I tried my best to explain above. And anyways, if this does become a real faction, it's all up to the devs, and these comments are just dust in the wind. :) And thank you for taking the time to read my thread, I really do appreciate it.
Sorry for any potential typos, I am currently suppose to be doing homework, so I don't really have time to read back through everything.
-Blade | U Know What , Even If My Points Are Totally Right , You Still Have Done Some Work Man :)
I Really Hope That Ur Efforts Won't Be For Nothing :) | @ElvishW,
Thank you, this may seem narcissistic, but I do really like the Cruzandra and it would be awesome if they made it into an actual faction.
-Blade | it appears to be a well thought out and balance faction, good job <thumbs up> | @Dionysus,
Thank you for your support. It's not everyday a Greek deity reads my threads :)
