IF that is true at CL 17 then that is saddening, I can say without equivocation that this is not true at CL16 |
Every dwarf has the exact same build as well, I have not seen this on any of the other factions. There is no diversity among the dwarfs, none whatsoever.
Well, that's how it goes for every faction. |

Except BW! That has 2 builds.. full attack or DoF. :P
I would disagree, there are definitely counters to dwarf, I faced a DD and found it very hard (similarly a ogre magi) because of their high defence it's hard to kill the tempts and yes you can remove buffs, but that's your rune gone and they can easily re-apply.
There's not much variation in terms of talents because.. why would there be? If there is one talent set that is unequivocally (thanks teacher) the best, then why wouldn't everyone use that? |
similarly a ogre magi)
Sorry, by this I meant dark barb. |
@Lord MilesTeg, none of them play with berserkers. Here is how they all play: They all take only 4 berserkers, make 2 stacks of 2. One is near spearmen to hit it to shoot twice with spearmen with rune. The other berserker stack either runs with rune to an opponents archer or moves to a spot so opponents unit can't hit another stack. The invokers will try to hit all around and when luck triggers it's allready over. The 20 patriarch will hope for a luck trigger as well while hitting three targets at once. If invokers luck has triggered they might as well use running runes for the ursary and dragons as well to make it more complete, otherwise they get in range for next turn to hit all around.
And if the opponent is a nuker then the ursary and dragons use running runes anyway to hit on their first turn. That's it, there is no tactic, this is the gameplay and all play like this.
On other factions I see lots of diversity, but on dwarf it's a repeat after repeat, like watching the same show over and over again. |

What did she write? |
Asked her to post in EFL section to keep thread alive, clearly been a while since she navigated forums :D |
@Lawton
Can you suggest any other decent build for dwarf then? Other options players have. |

Hahaha...Happens :p

Looks like Lawton is quite bored with the dwarf gameplay... Time to bring back the chaos dwarf then? :p |
for Expert_BOT:
Going Pure Chaos without Sorcery is just shooting yourself in the knee. A DoF build (like BW) would be better than pure chaos. |
I've actually seen a DoF build, and they won their battles. But I wouldn't risk a build like that without a known partner tbh.. |
I think you will have a level of perception bias Lawton (not unjustifiably), considering your context helps understand your viewpoint.
The fact that dwarves have pretty much the same build every time is not an issue in my opinion. This is true of many factions, with perhaps small variations.
The significant thing is that you are playing as a magic DE (whom it must be noted always have the same tactic of sit back and defend while zapping, with the only real variation being potentially doing a lizard charge or running away with dragons.
In this situation every single faction will rush you in a full on assault, it is not their build that defines this action but yours. The success of this rush will very much depend upon luck procs as well as how it works out with some careful positioning (assuming the same level of character pumping etc).
If it bugs you that much try playing as a might DE or an elf and you will see more variation in your oppositions play style. |
@Lord MilesTeg, the problem isn't that I'm playing magic DE or that they are rushing me, elf does that way better than dwarf and if it has sprites as well then it even has 4 creatures at first turn upon me. I don't find that an issue and wasn't even close to what I said. So don't start bringing words into my mouth that were never there.
I even saw dwarf against dwarf, both playing the exact same style, whoever had its creatures turn first basically always wins. The problem is that PvP tournaments is riddled with dwarfs, in every match there is at least one if not two while the game consists of 9 factions, counting the alts makes it even 17 variations. But instead of facing lots of factions so the game stays interestng, you get the exact same dwarf over and over again causing nothing but boredom. Maybe you like to play the exact same matches over and over again, but for me it becomes monotonous and takes a huge chunk out of its play value. I don't care about win or lose as long as it is diverse and mixed.
On one on one PvP every faction has a counterfaction and dwarf does not and that right there is the actual problem, resulting into the PvP tournaments with like 80% dwarfs, if not more. |
for Lawton: I did not put words into your mouth, just pointed out something true which is that our build impacts the tactics of our opposition. Pure magic builds will almost always incite a response of full out attack as that is the only sensible tactical choice against them. Since you are playing that, it is natural that you will see very similar tactics in your opponents (which is what I thought a significant aspect of your concern was).
I would not enjoy repetitive matches which is why I have not played as a pure chaos caster for some time now. When I hit CL17 the extra ini arts for the hero may make that the best tactical choice for my character in PvP, but I will evaluate that when it happens.
Be careful to avoid exaggeration, it undermines your points in my opinion. If the tournament was 80% + dwarves then there would need to be 3 dwarves in most matches and sometimes 4. The most I have played in is 2 and that is when I had a dwarf on my side, so always at least 25% dwarf. While I agree there are more dwarves than any other faction in this tourney, the true stat is probably somewhere between 20-40%. |
It is totally insignificant that I play as magic DE of what I said about dwarfs
Read my post at #65, there is what I said how dwarf plays against all factions. The last two lines was if you happen to be a caster, I used nuker as a synonym for caster if that was not clear. |
@Meshy, there are lots of other builds for dwarfs, but people seem to have settled on just this one and gamble for the luck trigger, if luck triggers during the first turns they win, if it does not they end up losing. It has basically become a casino game were they bet all on red. |
Any tips in elf vs Dark shaman matchup (lvl 13)? I swear I've never been anywhere near close to winning whenever they are on the enemy team(and never had one on my team...)
Those ogre shamans seem so OP one/two shotting every stack I have, it's not like you can focus them to try and prevent their spirit from accumulating.. the hyenas and rocs aren't a pushover.. |
@Flying_Penguin, try playing as charmer elf, the bolts might start to melt the ogres away. |
I came close once as charmer elf(had like 30 ogres left, that's the best I did but was in a 1v1 a while ago) but I find my overall winrate better when I play regular elf. I am 4/4 losses when facing one but still a score of 8/14 overall.
Just out of curiousity, what's dark shaman's worst matchup? I've never seen one lose lol, any links of elfs winning appreciated |
