How can i fight knights at lvl 5( last time i was) but i kept losing after getting druids.... |
501
at lvl 5, chance is very small for an elf to win a knight in duel. after getting efk, it may be better. |
It's actually fairly easy. Set Griffs as your favored enemy and kill them first with your bowmen. You should at least weaken them enough in the first hit to be able to kill them with your druid (split stacks into 1 or 2 each and use lightning) and one attack from fk. Their bowmen wont do enough damage to your elf bows to warrant attacking them first and their swordsmen will be slow. Have a stack of 2 druids to stone skin your forest keepers before they go to attack the swords... even use a druid to take retals off the swordsmen. |
THX Ipsleene? |
Summon Phantom and Raise have been criticized as being useless and not worth the investment in mana, especially vs. casters like Dru who can kill the phantoms in one hit.
Tell me, then, would the extra 5 points in attack make a difference in this battle as opposed to the 50 mana spent on phantoms and raising?

#505:
For what you posted there, you used 5+1 (knowledge+power) which is 6. Yes, 6 can make a huge difference if you don't fight only HG/MG. Especially in pvp, every point in attack/defence can make your day happy or sad.
#505 and #506:
I suppose it depends on the personality. If your personality is more aggressive/energic, then you should go for attack better than defence. Once you go for defence, your attack suffers, so, you need more defence/troops.
Me, I am Kiaune's advocate here and not because she is level 12 (and I am fond of cats as well :) ), but because also my style is a little bit more aggressive. Yet, I don't deny ipslne's strategy (it just doesn't fit my style and I tried it after discussing with him here). |
for Kiaune:
o_o; that's not even fair ;p |
i just hitted 7th level can u post your opinions if leadership and rally is better than advanved luck?
i have a hard time giving up those 2 points in luck... |
#509:
read #507 (it depends on your fighting style; i prefered luck +2). |
Rally is better at level 8 and up. After you reach level 10 you will be changing your talents for each battle. |
thnx ipslne.
#510: at 507 there is no discussion about talents firstly and secondly NO i disagree that my question is part of any fighting style...its about if the one talent tree is better than the other at this level simply as that.
All the other things u discussed at 507 i agree its a matter of fighting style but this isnt. |
hi, fellow elves, i got two questions. i plan to do mainly ambushes to get to thief guild lvl 4 asap. is it worthy to invest in knowledge to use summon phantoms? or i should put all the points to attack?
also, how do you set Favoured enemies? now i'm using:
monks, vampires, gargoyals, wolf riders, rogues, wolfhounds.
any comments or suggestions? |
Summon Phantom is mostly useless in a caravan. They'll be lucky to get a single attack in. Though Knowledge is good for that last-minute raise on your Unicorns. More often then not they are the last unit standing, and with stoneskin they make good tanks even after the first Raise.
My FE for Caravans:
Cavalry, Vamps, Golems, Cyclopse, Shrews, Devils.
As of yet those are the ones that will give you the most trouble. Barbarian and Knight raids are tough to set FE for because there is only one that has Cavalry, but if you get it you'll need them as your FE. Knight also has a couple with griffins that prove to be difficult... so set your FE to your tastes. Barb raids often have Cyclopse and FE is very good to have there as well. Wolf Riders have low HP and are easy to kill on the first few attacks; second to Cyclopse I would set Ogres as FE. Rocs don't tend to cause many problems.
Vamps, Golems, Shrews, and Devils are a must. As an elf you can destroy a good portion of Demon units in just a few hits with your EFK... but Devils are much much more difficult. Necro ambushes can be tough if there are a high number of Vamps or if you get some bad misses on ghosts/apps... but because Vamps are a sure hit every time it's best to set them as your FE. Shrews are an obvious choice. There are almost always rogues _and_ shrews; and shrews coupled with the hero's magic are deadly in small numbers. As for Golems, largish stacks of Modern Golems make a Wizard Caravan difficult. Gargoyles don't do nearly enough damage to make them worthy of being FE. They'll hit you and you can just kill them with your retals.
That's the advice I have so far... but I'm not wholly experienced in TG yet. |

i would say monk and wolfhound/cerberi, since they have more than 90% chance to appear, but cavalry and devil appear in very rare case. even you set them as favored enemy, 10 devil or 15+ cavalry are still hard to beat. |
514, 515,
thanks for the advice. the devils are too hard to beat, i may well give up. |
hounds/cerberi are easy to beat and aren't nearly as dangerous as Devils. Devils should be made FE for sure, to at least give yourself a chance. Full arts are also fairly necessary if you happen to get Devils.
As for Knights... I used to have Monks as FE, but would still have problems with Griffins on occasion as well. I find that having Griffs or Cavalry as FE is much easier. Monks are relatively slower and easier to beat with no infinite retal.
Some say that the most common creature you come across is best for your FE. I find that to be a risky strategy. I set my FE as the most dangerous creature I can come across for each faction. Crits are not something to rely on anyways... so consider them a boost when you really need them. |

I think it's a good strategy if you're ambushing with min arts because you're unlikely to beat a tier 6-7 creature whether or not you have them as favoured. But with full arts, I'd say it's best to choose Devil as favoured, for example. |
I suppose that's a good point Zya. I just don't ambush enough without arts to notice lol. |

DMy fav list on ambush is
monks, vampires, golem, orge, rogues, wolfhounds
for devil, normally it will have some scuu or misstreses beside it. so u can use druids to take reta and efks and unicorns attack after reta took. : |
