I'm using Ogres, Griffins, Enchanted Gargoyles and 3 Infernal troglodytes as retail takers (that -3 morale is great).
I'm playing mostly LG 1 battles, were I'm making 245 gold and I'm losing around 400 gold per battle.
I'm trying not to upgrade anymore troops until I get to 250k leadership.
Is there a better army combo that can give me a lower loss of gold in every battle? |
For sir morphius:
I'm guessing your griffins are killed quickly before anything else is targeted? Myself i prefer either having all units either slow or fast. Still, with the slow guys i'm also losing gold, but with shrews+merc archs´+sprites i often earn a few tens of gold pieces |
| I think one ranged is useful as it affects how the AI plays which you can use to exploit it. I think your melee troops then have to have an edge in some way to get melee advantage. The best troop for the leadership I think is swords, though I do not have those. For me spawns and hobs work well as decent ini and damage and speed 5 gives the range to close down more easily. I often have one tribal goblin to make up the remaining points which I put out into range of a troop not protecting something with ranged and therefore likely to advance, to then get first hit in. |

Yes, griffins are targeted first and they usually all die by the end.
I don't have any archers that I can resurrect right now, but they do seem like the logical choice unless their death will cost even more... |

sometimes you can choose between exchanging your current troops entirely or by 50k points only
so if you exchange with all the points you will get more units

Wow, I got 16 stacks of over 50k and 7 of them are over 100k.
I better remember to exchange them before the end of the month.... |
| So what's the best way to farm for troops? I know defenses are fine for it, but are there any other battles that almost completely pay back the gold cost if you want to do high AP battles? |
I would not say you farm for troops, more that LeG troops are a by product of normal battles. As such anything that is self sustaining gold wise for normal battles will give you LeG troops at no cost. You can then either use these troops with no desire of upgrading to get more gold. Or else resurrect troops to preserve the troops you have.
As such LeG can be pure profit it you wish it, or else a sink for a fair amount of gold as well, depending upon how you approach it. |

I know that is a byproduct of normal gameplay, but I wanted to put more effort into it because I find it fun and because of future opportunities that admins might provide for it while also not wanting it to interrupt my normal character development. I think defenses are my best bet as they almost always pay for the arts used as long as many enchants are not used. |
