While they are nicely bunched for a fireball, I cannot think of a way of delivering enough damage quickly enough. Anything with that damage output normally has much lower hp and so will just get fireballed.
I was wondering whether vermins feeding efreet could work, as they have high ini to at least get off a fireball first. Would need something to block the 40 on the first turn as well. I guess really need something like blademasters for this, which I do not have. |
Use something quick to kill the two turncoat warmages, and then carry blade masters into the hole that's been created.
Or you could probably just bring two overpowered units and brute force it (pikemen, valks, vargs, prison guards, orcs, etc.). |
I already tried brute force with my two best units, with others trying to limit magic by removal etc.

My first attempt was a rush with blazing, and then magic dealers. Again a long way off successful

perhaps 40 vermins, efreeti for magic damage, a blocker of the 4 shooters, and then swarm with apparitions to hopefully get enough misses and drain mana.
Or some renegade magicians, as with enough initial damage may be able to restrict damage in return...? |
How bout diamond golems |
You have zombie pirates and Ayssids with 50% magic shield.
I think zombie pirates + diamond golems might be able to win that round.
Take 6 valks to cast stone skin on your zombie pirates, and I don't think enemy troops will be able to do anything to them. Especially with infecting strike, it should decimate the warmages. |
I think diamond golems have a chance, but in general anything with meat will get shot to pieces first. My prison guards got eaten and significantly nerfed with curse and delay. The same would happen with zombie pirates I think and they would just not get their in sufficient numbers

If be tempted to rush them with a troop with surround damage. Magic elementals or blazing hounds could work, especially if you put a bit of luck on them. Probably only need 1 troop as well be much less of them by their second move.
It's is then whether you go for some magic dealers, or double up your rush and go all in with both of those troops |
If you buy the lvl 7 potion it will give you access to recruit rare creatures on battles? |

You may want to consider a shooter build, a chunk of there tankiness of the army comes from the dodge ability which reduces melee damage by 50% |
