I made 90 TG points at level 6 and I don't know how many more at level 7 (too many combat log pages to count)

And I did not have shrews.

So:
#41 - I disagree

#40 - start thievieg as fast as you can afford it. It is fun and by level 8 you can already be level 2 thief and on a smooth way to level 4.

What South of Heaven said is true. DEs are not bad at thieving even without shrews. But considering he will not likely to finish TG2 before level 8, I say save up enough money for a set of full arts, renting cost, and level 8 buildings
ok ,DE without shrew is good for thieving ,what about magic DE at 8 lvl?

i have a question for all advanced DE players. I switched to DE from barb in order to get to faction skill level 5 in DE. The fact is i'm levelling up to lvl 10 pretty soon, and my question is: providing that im goin to switch back to barb after reaching fsp 5 on DE (now i'm 3,and maybe i can go to 4 before leveling up), is it necessary to build the upgrade minos?? Or can i save the money??

I'm goin to do Hunts and Ambush mostly.

mino soldiers are not necessary, you could do without them, though ambush and hunts will be easier with mino soldiers. you could save the magic guild golds too.
You can avoid building minos if you got financial issues. They definitely help but if you are satisfied with a 5-10% decreased win rate for a while you can simply do without them.

I was ambushing during levels ( 9 - start of 11 ) for TG4 as Dark Elf and did it without mino soldiers. Maybe i lost total 10-15 ambushes because of that at most. And even then losing makes next caravan easier , so you just get the win later. For ambushing you definitely can do without minos. Even if you want to work with DE seriously later, minos after level 12 are more or less crap ( single shrew stacks with assault from lizard assailant is simply better in 99% of the cases ). I still don't have mino soldiers and i will probably never get them :P I don't have poisoners either - though they are a bit more important than minos ( ideal to take retaliation for lizard 'cause of initiative ).

Magic guild 3 is also more or less useless, since might DE is in general better for almost all purposes ( of course if it is your main faction you should get it :P )

"minimal arts" are really strong enough for DE thief beginner IMO.
Hi, i'm kinda new at this and plan to be a might DE. How should I raise my stat? should i balance out my atk and def or should i put more atk into def or something? Thanks in advance =]
defense is raised easily by wearing protective gear, while attack is raised solely by your weapon (or maybe some expensive amulets and stuff) I would suggest putting all in attack and rely on defense gotten from armor :)
ok... i already added 1 point in def, is that bad?
if you've already added to def, then leave it be; subsequent points should go into attack.

but just a heads-up: at high lvl quests, hunts and ambushes, def is important imho cos if you can't survive the 1st/2nd wave of beating, you won't have enough troops left to do that much damage
Dionysus is right, me and kiaune with the help of kiskoko tryed and tested different ways of doing defensive build. We found one that worked for caravans and pvp etc...

Defense build for some quests is VERY useful, it allows you to survive 10 times longer. Stuff like 60 cyclops which in ambush would kill my lizards instantly would probally kill half if that.

so the idea is to pump atk for now and then start adding def later on?

i've tried a "flexible" system for def at higher levels, it involves your erudition talent - this allows u to add points to whichever primary skill u choose w/o making it permanent so u can put all into def for certain quests and into attack for others. of course, u'll need to supplement this with defensive arts as well e.g. armour, shield, etc

and for talents, are those reversible? As in likr buying potions or something to reset it?
yes - they can always been changed/reset until the game developers decide otherwise.

u can and should play around with talents and test them on different missions, etc, to find what works best for u :) for example, against ranged monsters, tactics is pretty useful
