AuthorComment on Elf Talent - Rain of Arrow
ok rain of arrows is a powerful talent as it can cause serious damage to the opposing team...
is a multi target +30% damage skill :p
Yeah if the oponnent has those units ungrouped it deals quite some dmg:D
until the 43th post, most of us agree the rain of arrow is too good.

perhaps the skill can be tweak by reducing damage and only aim 1 opponent?
I would say, make the % of damage according to faction skill, something like 20% per faction level, so a FL 4 elf would do 80% of normal dmge, a FL6 elf would do 120%,

this makes it progressivly better the higher levels, but then most armies have more troops and only 1 or 2 stacks of them, so this skill would still be usefull at the higher lvl's and less overpowered in lower lvl's
I'm an Elf and I only use Rain of Arrows in hunt. I use Luck in battles.

Rain of arrows may inflict plenty of damage but it's totally unreliable.

- It distributes damage here and there; when a battle starts, you better want to kill straight the most dangerous stacks instead of spreading damage.
- It depends on the race you face and the way stacks are split (often there are Elves on both sides, so no Rain of Arrows against them)
- As battle goes on it has less and less usage simply because stacks it may target have been killed already, while Luck lasts for the entire battle.

I prefer casting Bless on bowmen or inflict a straight 28-damage magic punch on a single stack than 10 on four different stacks. I don't like the idea of having an ability's effect depending on the enemy deployment. And even for lame critters like Zombie walls you need two salvos before they die (again); in a group battle, that's an awful lot of time.

I agree that Rain of Arrows seems powerful, and may appear amazing if two or three Elves on one side use it against Magi. But it's not a common occurrence. In hunt where all targets are "preferred enemies" and spread in many stacks, it helps a lot. But other than that, Luck is better. I even use Luck over Rain of Arrows in mercenary quests.

Like others said, high-level players don't even use Rain of Arrows. That's certainly telling something.
yes it tell us that everyone on high levels has switched to elf so there's no point in using it
good point :)
yes it tell us that everyone on high levels has switched to elf so there's no point in using it high level? elf? i dont think so..

yes it tell us that everyone on high levels has switched to elf The meaning so simple, rain of arrow not make everyone in high levels switch to elf.. :P
^^ So it's rain of pain or gain? :D
Pain really =) It's moderately useful in hunts, but in group battles luck rules)
Funny to read all this blabbering about how elfs is overpowered, hmm let me think that over, an Elf cant beat any other faction in 1 vs 1 unless they are VERY lucky. And in group PVP they are always the first one to go down, so how are we so overpowered i wonder?

The usual answer is that elves are killed because they're overpowered, but I wonder, if elven units miraculously lost half of their attack, would that prevent them from being first targets?
i totally disagree, i personally think necromancers have it the easiest. I hate having to kill the same army oh lets say 10 times over one on one makes it all but impossible. Elvish troops have very little health compared to other armies and die fast i hate losing my xp because people are afraid of the elvish bowman meanwhile the ghosts and minotaurs of allies mow em down like rag dolls as they slughter my troops. There are many ways to beat an elf i could complain about wizards or caster or anything. bottom line is if you can't beat them dont complain try something different because i have seen many elves loose a battle and i have been beaten.

If you read the description of the ability it says, "Hero gains an ability to attack ALL stacks of favored enemies." So if and elf has this ability and their ally has a favored enemy then they will get attacked as well. They will be killing their own teammate at the same time as the enemies.
elves are the 1st target in most battles, no matter who you verse they have the upper hand, dark elves have the earthen spikes ability and knights bowmen have the volley ability, necros have the raise dead ability which annoys some elf players as the ghosts also have a 50% chance of missing, and orcs have more initiative when in a battle against elves so they are able to attack first, and even though demons are boring after awhile they still have the gating ability so before the rain of arrows ability, elves were at a HUGE disadvantage, even so the rain of arrows damage should be reduced as it overpowers elves as they also have the druids lightning, which makes elves still the 1st target in battles but a very hard opponent because they can rip you apart even if you are a barbarian and your orcs go first, and rain of arrows doesn't lose it worth at higher levels because you can just change who your favoured enemy is in each race which makes the rain of arrows ability one of the best, as the stronger your enemies are the stronger the ability is.
How about human's unique talent? They can even retaliate for more than elf when anyone attack the escorted stack with melee attack.

so I don't think rain of arrow is power overwhelming.
