Maybe the Empress knows more than she says.. Or it's the spreading of darkness magic in the Empire (Spell area for negative effect mass spells has been changed to 5x5 battlefield tiles.)
There might be some mind control spells in action (darkness magic level 5) and a poison spell.
Interesting theory, especially as there are 2 conditions:
malady: refers to the Empress' sickness
blight: a lot stronger, means plague, scourge, and seems to be affecting the whole nation.
The Empress frowned. As She did, councilor Kh'Everst remarked clearly how the light in the room went out a little, as if a dark curtain had been cast on the window.
So the Empress manipulates space when her mood changes, it isn't caused by an outside spell. Could she be possessed (by a being with very strong dark magic, like a demon, or an apparition)? Is she responsible for the blight?
Is she friend or foe?
I don't think the dwarves are responsible, however. They have always relied on technology and unit boosting runes, not on dark magic. And they hate demons and necros.

Key phrase: is she going to appoint a heir (a great warlord, ehm make that a magnificent wizard...) after a war/event/tournament? Is she going to adopt? Is she going to be cured by some clever wizard and start looking for a husband? | In my concept of the military structure of the Empire, there are military forces, which are not us =) (Look at Kalirosh for example to get an idea about what those forces are. https://www.lordswm.com/pl_info.php?id=4508656 )
Us are lords, the nobility layer of population who can recruit certain amount (pretty low actually) of the troops according to out leadership skills (combat level etc). We use those forces to our leisure, we hunt and participate in tournaments etc.
This phrase meant that when a threat arises, the lords are summoned to battle, partially through the MG.
Hmm, looks we should write to Kalirosh, and ask him stop kill those beautiful new creatures, so we will have a chance to join the war :) | I have come to the conclusion that the most significant words that has been spoken about what the future holds for the Empire and us Lords are not what the Empress has said. Nor was it Thutkra, nor Councilman Kalirosh, councilor Kh'Everst and Bilir.
What is the biggest hint thus far to this great 'mystery' was actaully uttered by lord Arctic himself ! -

Maybe the dwarfs wanted to spy out the Empire and our fighting skills to prepare the war.. | Maybe the Empress (or the Court) realized that the cause of the blight (her personal one and the one that affects the whole realm) is a poison (or mind control) originating from the enemy (dwarves?). Since necro is the only one not affected by such (poison/mind control), he is left in given the charge to defend the Empress/Court whenever the enemy attacks...
Also why should we believe that what the dark elf councilor saw was real? (the darkness cover that occurred at Her Highness frowning). An anonymous name for a lord transferring a ring of abdication to the Empress. This ring of abdication was not received illegally from anyone by Lord555, it is from his own inventory. What would be the reason for sending it to the Empress, instead of selling it on the market, or even directly from inventory, if ran out of space?
It's possible there is a plot, in which Lord555 is involved, to make our Empress abdicate?... o:

The Empress’s fears were realized. The ex-Warlords would attempt a coup, to try to take back their powers. She was at a pivotal point in Her role as Empress. If She bowed to their whims, She would be discredited forevermore and be taken as weak willed. If she denied them, She might be alienating the very Council She depended on for advice and loyalty.

Thutkra was about the tell our Queen the truth, but Kalirosh was trying to hide the truth that their current forces are barely able to control the attacking of dwarf.

Specially, he delivered a secret but very important letter to Feurlis. Why is Feurlis again?
He just received a powerful sword from Empire as mentioned by triplebuzze, what's the meaning of the sword? I don't know the culture of other country, but in old China, a sword given by Empire is called "Shang Fang Bao Jian". Usually, the receiver is given a secret but vital task by Empire. With the sword, the receiver is a personal represent of Empire, and whatever he is doing, is like the Empire himself is doing.
Again, is the dark magic around the Empire related to Feurlis, the necro councilor?
Or does it imply a special event related necro during the Halloween this year? | I think post #6 is mainly another hint of an upcoming dwarf war.
