ha ha? almost all players can earn their own upkeep too. i m sure you can make it. stop most full artifacts battle and enroll more; try to use min AP whenever possible. | are xbows really worth the cost at lv8 or is it worth waiting for later and instead getting all the other structures? Any thoughts? | They are really worth the cost at level 8, they are a MUST in our army.
Exemples: in hunts that you go full bows, they ignore defense and do so high damage, and mercenaries monsters quests etc.. | for valens2:
My second character (SirM ) is a level 6 knight, just like you. But my LG is 3 times higher then yours. And so I have 10 times more money then you do, even tho' I fought more then you did.

Battle fury:
It will increase your swords from 2-4 (Avg 3) to 3-5 (Avg 4) thats a 33% increase instead of 10%
Your bowmen usually use ranged so they also benefit more from battlefury

anyway, with the current stats and talent built you had, i assume you are more on might built.
might or magic built on knight isnt a big issues in caravan although they have difference strategy to encounter caravan. as usual, your tortoise guardian is the key to win.
the only matter is you will find yourself hard to win caravan from Lv11 to Lv12. the caravan size grow too much while you receive only little troops boost and insufficient talent point to grab good talent combo to fight better.
of course, i m not saying you cant win in Lv11-12. but, it is just not as easy as Lv10 and you might need more AP to deal with. | Which is the best knight build on lvl 11 against caravans?
Talents: adv leadership and rally + battle fury.
Type of knight build: might or hybrid build between might and some magic build, like me :) (you never know when you will need some spells, or do some mercs, hunts beside thiefing)
I've got the impression that every time someone start thiefing or level-up, caravan level is preset to fight in full arts. That's why you got the feeling that caravans are so strong. If you want to decrease difficulty you can choose some proper equipment (min AP, steel set) and do thief battles for a while (and win only against some poor non-equiped players who travel) and then start to win.
2 and half years ago i start thiefing as you at lvl 11, but i go with enchants, but i do not recommend you unless you have plenty of gold and you want to reach fast TG1 and further. | 2 and half years ago

"little" troops boost from lvl 11 to 12?...
What would you think of my current talents (still talking about lvl 11) for ambushes? I'm using expert leadership, basic holy and dominion of wrath, plus escort (I can't pick anything else... That's not a must but sometimes handy when there are just guards left).
I feel that, more than stronger hits with guards, I need more hits; usually, they already often kill in one hit anyway.
A few particular things to consider:
- I won't change my stat points (3 KN, 2 SP)
- I don't have xbows
- I've just got magic guild 1
I'm a bit experiencing what suits the best as recruit setup, but I'm feeling quite satisfied with max guards, griffins, monks and cav; rest in bows to have some decoy. Griffins aren't much usefull IMO, as they die quickly in any shooter caravan, but they still seems better than anything else. They're also good in non shooters caravan, as they can hit and run to kill small stacks that spread to kill bows.
Monks don't deal much damage, but due to high resistance, and high priority for AI, they are quite worth it.

well, he didnt invest on any SP or KN; and i assume he wont going to do so. hence, it would be wise to get offense + morale talent. pray the burst action to help him chop caravan faster.
yet, compare with other factions, knight still need more AP than other to perform better in ambush.

well, comparing with the caravan and yours troops... yes, your increased troops were no match with caravan. after all, caravan always overrun you with quantity. so, just get used to it.

stats isnt a big issues. but, you can just focus on might since you dont apply expert holy talent. fervor will be good. so, all you have to do is the chain cast on bless and inspire guardian.

like it or not, you still have to get them since they have better hp to be sacrificed to BUY MORE little time for you.

that's doesnt really matter since you dont apply expert mastery on magic. so, little help from rapid or bless for guardians are just enough :)

as i mentioned before, griffins werent as good as you thought. it is excel in pvp and little help on MG BUT nothing more. yet, it still serve you well as high priority to be killed after xbow AND buy you little time for you guardians and monks.

as the knight standard unit with good hp and def, monk is my favorite as decoy to take retal for guardians to make a safe trike in ambush. yet, monk has lower priority on list for AI. hence, they are almost the last to fall before guardian which allow them to deliver some damage. | If I "had to" get xbows, I wouldn't have made about 400 fights as a knight by now.
The next building I'll buy will be DE anyway, to keep necro castle fully upgraded.
As for griffins, sure, I'm valuing them more than what that other knights do... Unlike them, I've got 50 guards max, and earlier, I had less than 40 max (these were swords btw; that was making things even worse) while dedicated knights have about 70 max, and griffins amount remains constant both for me and them. Same goes for cav, though max count should be influenced by faction levels on higher levels (unlike at lvl 11).
That doesn't mean that any of us is wrong; just that our situation is different.
