Author | [Event] Survilurgs attack again |
I lose 100% games against shooter knight :x | I understand your point of view, MilesTeg.
All my battles are hard now, that's ok. But some are getting freakish now.
Some examples?
48 brawler, 13 priests, 135 master spearmen, 73 frontier ursary. I managed to defeat the brawlers and the ursary, after they killed more then half of my army.
25 griffins, 19 monks, 56 crossbowmen, 98 guardians. I can choose to get shot from the distance or blown away by guardians.
24 magi, 24 genies, 160 enchanted gargoyles, 89 modern golems. How am I supposed to kill 89 modern golems, when AI aims my shooters first? Did I miss the secret button to double my troops?
Given this the admins cannot realistically fully balance everything and test it to destruction as the total complexity is too big
You got a point. But the balancing I'm facing here is just... sloppy. | All my battles are hard now, that's ok. But some are getting freakish now.
exactly
Today has been horrible. | @Lord Mora, you have played only 12 matches out of the possible 120, so only 10% of the event and you call it a succesfull event. And at just the start of it you only managed 9/12 so 25% loss, keep playing and see what happens since it even keeps getting harder while its allready too hard, you will suffer well over 50% loss against thick armies where you have next to zero chance. And then tell us how good this event is.
@Lord MilesTeg, making something challenging and making something impossible are two different things, like facing a demon opponent with twice the regular army size and topping it off with insane high initiatives of 22 to its units which none of my level players even have. Making it a realistic challenge and an impossible one are hence two entirely different things.
During the events of the last year orso this seems to be a thing now and shows to me that none of the events are even getting tested for anything. And balance? I would be glad with just only consistency, not facing a big stack that's 50/50 doable and then facing almost twice that on the exact same level of difficulty, this was evident during the pirates event and I see the same thing here as well: I face a big stacked army, I loose, and then face the exact same type of army but now with even bigger stacks. Calling that challenging is delusional.
A succesfull event is when the majority ends at the end of it around 70% wins orso, but nowadays this is allready at the start of the event and goes only way downhill from there ending with the majority even under 50% wins. The russians are furious on their forum about this event. And those that are happy with this event do not even play half of it. When a game creates an event that pisses off the majority, now that there should be a sign. But I guess here the admins want to create events where the winning percentage gets less with each event. | Does anybody know what is the set bonus?
3 artifacts: +1 attack, +1 defense, +1 spell power, +1 knowledge, +1% initiative
6 artifacts: +2 attack, +2 defense, +2 spell power, +2 knowledge, +2% initiative
9 artifacts: +3 attack, +3 defense, +3 spell power, +3 knowledge, +3% initiative
About the difficulty and balance:
There have been many events over the past 8 years and I noticed, while it was possible to win almost 100% in full arts a few years ago (still with challenging combats), the general difficulty of events has greatly increased. Of course it mustn't be too easy, but when the difficulty is so high, that the average player becomes frustrated, then something is just wrong. | event is not designed for a brainless 100% win, you can play the first half easily, then chose to quit, or to challenge yourself.
however i must admit that the difficulty now is a bit overpowered, 1.5-2 times size of a normal player is something alright, but above 2 times it become impossible sometimes. | For Lawton:
I tried to say that this event is successful for me, because I knew when to stop playing it. I didn't say that it's a good event. Luckily I started to read this forum and things got very clear to me. For this I am grateful to you guys.
Event has some nice and unseen mechanisms, which make it not such a bad event. But there will be others. I like this game and events are the best thing in it. | event is certainly not for a brainless win, but 50% victory rate today is not fine under any domain of definition.
I guess their aim is to make money out of potion of restoration | your "brainless" comment is quite redundant as the difficulties is too far beyond a standard player's potential, the AI strategies works like human player, and the size of their army is almost x2 huge than us
the brainless should applied on admin, not us | your "brainless" comment is quite redundant as the difficulties is too far beyond a standard player's potential, the AI strategies works like human player, and the size of their army is almost x2 huge than us
i mean the difficulty in the first two days. | i'm really sick of charmer elf
events should bring pleaasure and joy not frustration and anger | thats why they raised the difficulties so much, it was quite easy and they feel that digging diamond buying from us is not much possible..so they raised the standard..guess what? this is over raised and made this event became impossible | losing too much. I guess i am just not good enough :/ | hmm reached lv7 and what do i see... 80 efk come and in one hit all my ghosts and 70% vampires gone... and also in the background 42 elven bowman and 16 druids... | i have played 72 battles so far...
i dont think the troop count is too much to handle, the AI is playing better and better.
especially Charmer elf and Dark Demon.
more than you guys, my poor Guards is frustrated.
i rapid my guards to catch pri uni, they get twice initiative than Guards and run all corners in the field :D | for eddy_immanuel:
i believe you will never use rapid or bless when facing alt elf next time :) | :P alt elf like holy spells as long as pri uni there :)
i feel very poor against unholy and chaose wiz..and some teribal :( | Alt Necro IS serious trouble... No wonder what I kill , they'll always raise full stack...
I managed to kill 2x , 3x of their original strength , Yet I couldn't even perish a single stack except the 2 skeletons...
And people say to wear better arts... | hmm charmer with alomost 1.5x more troops :) i wish i had them | with regard to balancing and difficuty I think it is important to remember they are not balanced against yourself, but against the whole collective of people, therefore for any event it is inevitable that one person may find it a good balance, some rather easy and others potentially impossible. This is an inevitability.
While I do not know for sure, I think it is a fair assumption that the admins can track how may wins and losses have occured for each event battle for each level and build. Given that they do adjust the difficulty over time it would imply that they are monitoring this. They adjust several times so clealy monitor the impact of any change they make. Therefore they must also be aware of the difficulty level as this is inherent in the decisions they make - it is as hard as they want it to be - viewed as the perspective of the whole lot of us. The thing is with this as it becomes more difficult, those that struggle most, stop doing it, therefore the win rate is for a more elite group of people, which would mean to make it hard for soe of them, itbecomes impossible for others, and so you get a consistently increasing difficulty. The issue then comes down to what win rate across the populous is appropriate - this will be very opinion based and will not have a correct answer.
For me I cannot fairly assess its difficulty as I am expecting to find it hard and lose more, as a result of my build and using a faction at only Faction level 7 at CL13. My aim instead is getting a good fsp ratio - anything else is a bonus a loss runs at about 1700 exp per fsp a win is 1200 exp per fsp - clearly beter to win, but a loss is still better than many other battles for me, while not increasing the difficulty of any guilds.
Based from this perspective therefore any event that provides a good fsp ratio will be good overal - amost no matter what the difficulty (I am after all a happy chappy and an eternal optimist). It is then just a matter of how much gold and time I have, if I do no have enough of either then it is the same as if no event happened. I have not gone into a negative issue as it is the same as normal if I do not do it, however can only have the potential to be positive (the slight flip side to that is that since events have good fsp/exp ratio of you do not participate - you lose ground compared to those people that do - I just may convenientl forget that fact when it suits me) |
