for Arcanide:
Are you sure you wanted to quote my statement in #17? Because I said exactly what you said, although in a different way.
Both of you have valid points but a compromise must be made here. I still lean towards what I said. If SirReal is in charge here, then it has to be a more easygoing environment, so others (volunteers/amateur translators) are able to keep pace with him to provide decent service. Not just him, but anyone has to acknowledge that these volunteers gain nothing, not even any credit or a show of gratitude, but have to face the constant pressure to be perfect in order to provide service to a game that they originally joined for fun. I hate saying it again, but yeah that is not a realistic expectation from volunteers. It can happen if you have a very lucky find but unlikely. Under the current circumstances, I cannot see how SirReal's expectations can be feasibly met unless the game admins/people in charge are willing to spend real money to hire official translators.
The priority first and foremost should be to suit the needs of our community while still being reasonable for volunteer translators. It shouldn't boil down to a choice between perfection versus complete abandon. | Definitely agree with arcanide not to do the translator work for the gold, if it was diamonds then perhaps that could be a fairer payment and us translators could have saved up for a uci :D
Anyway, my point is that for the effort and pressure you are much better putting your time into the game and earning the same gold that way!
However I have been in the team for ages, well before it was a paid position. I may have lived in England my whole life but my English writing skills are not the best, I saw it as a great opportunity to improve my skills in writing whilst also supporting the game. There have definitely been rough patches but I believe we are doing a good job at getting relatively accurate and fast translations for.com and that is something to be proud of | I agree fully with #21.
For merlin36:
We have always tried our best, but we cannot meet the excessive demands. We are only volunteers.
I am proud of how we have been able to keep .com involved with volunteers. I respect all of them, past and present, going back since the start of the clan. Without them, our small community would have ceased to exist long ago. |
