Looking at the topic I assumed faction has arrived.
Personally I would think pharaoh will be too strong, darkness and holy spells with plenty of ways to decrease defence
i think a holy and darkness caster faction is going to change the dynamics of the game and will remove the 1 drawback other factions have always haunted us in. U get to caste both the spells holy and darkness and with troops that can win you battles. its worth playing. just that the scorpions poison is really really pathetic. i mean a 150 poisoner scorpions only dealing 150 poison damage is far too little i think when u come up against the meat of 40-45HP units...! just my thoughts though.

No, casters weakness is in the early game before enough casting was done to overcome stat and talents investment.

This faction will be worst, with two talent sets to invest in in order to make use of the racial ability. The only saving grace I can imagine is that it will be maybe one of the only support that can beat destruction through rapid/chastise/disrupt/delay combo.

Once the balancing is done, I guess it will just be another weak faction like HK, incredibly powerful against an AI that lets it gather momentum but useless against players that will quikly hammer the wardens/weak point.

Wait and see. At least the racial ability should make it play and feel differently, though maybe will stick it into its own niche build like HK.

Because HK that wins is not holy HK but might HK.

Because holy HK must cast spells to survive rushers, but by the time it casts it's too late already.

Because of rushers with child of light, knockback and lightning all bundled in one big anti-holy pack.

Because holy requires you to make dense packs of troops which forces poor strategic decisions (do I not buff myself or get fireballed/battledanced/...?)

Because it simply dies to destruction before buffs are up.

Because darkness just needs to confuse it and slowly get the upper hand by stacking disrupt.

Because of dominion of fire.

Because light is the weakest magic guild (ok better than nature) and it is not played successfully except for team battles.

Will that suffice?

Bundling holy into a racial ability looks like a noob trap to me. I think I got lost somewhere in my reasoning, so the comparison with holy HK came from the fact that in theory wardens could kill armies on their own but in practice die or are blocked by the time buffs are up just like holy/dark combo could be overpowered if the pharaoh could live long enough and invests heavily into SP/KN.
but holy and dark mixed together could suit players very well

In addition to straight up stat boosts (negatively offset by you putting points into Sp+Kn), you can also boost your minimum damages (Bless) and initiative (Rapid). That's way more reliable than Luck and Morale (but less swing-y as you have fewer stat points in Attack).

Couple that with Darkness magic (Delay+Weakness+Curse) and enemy might factions are gonna have a hard time dealing any damage once all the buffs/debuffs are placed.

Good support faction, quite possibly, but otherwise, let's see what the admins give us first :D
Honestly I think it's gonna be an faction that the AI will use rather than the players.
Guys u don't need talents to cast spells from spell books, the spell powers are based on Ur FSL. Just stands to see what surprises the talents can throw in to make this one of the stronger factions in the game..!

I dont understand what you mean of course you need talents
I think we will get SP = our FSL like in fire dwarfs.... Maybe even bonus knowledge, who knows... :)
