I think it depends upon your build.
To begin with I think their is credence to some defence as with only a few bows you will not dominate the ranged exchange and need your swords to get in and do the dirty. As you progress you will (if wise) get lots of ranged/shrew/blazing hounds, that will allow you to kill without takig damage. When you have this dominance absolutely you want to prioritise iniative and attack only. |

| Personally I would have just chieftains as this will give the greatest initial boost to damage, (5 stacks given a boost and shooting on first round compared to 4 boosted). As more turns progress then the increased morale procs may compensate for the loss of the extra shooter (or melee) stack. However, it is about gaining dominance quickly and controlling the fight to avoid any losses. |

| No, it means if they stand next to enemy and your troop does a fire spell (like fireball) the enemy will take 50% extra damage |
I think perhaps 50% more damage from the fire elemental damage as a result of flame dagger, so increases flame dagger attack damage from 6 to 9% additional damage for you.
Of course if they get a stack next to your ascetics then something has gone wrong! |

While each shot of ascetics to a single target will do more damage, the loss of starfire means the total damage is likely to be less.
Furthermore, you are likely to have more armaments for patriarchs as well as the fact that upgrading to patriarchs will not increase your army strength.
However, if you reckon you will replace your priests with a different stack later on and perhaps not upgrade them, then best upgrade them and get the advantage now
Secondly, there is a chance that they realise the bug and give them a silver cost. If you have already upgraded them then perhaps they will give you that advantage and so you gain free silver. Alternatively they know that you will have paid no silver and downgrade all ascetics to priests before they add in the silver cost.
In that scenario you have gained a more effective fighter for free, while still retaining the potential to get patriarchs.
Of course this is just trying to second guess the admins, so which is the best choice is down to you. |

| adms are lazy, i dont think they will change this bug so fast, for example: Cyclop generals cost more 4times of silvers than Cyclop kings, i dont think its reasonable, but it seems always be from the last event. |

But I am pretty doubtful about the cost. It will require a minimum of 70-80k gold and im doubtful if ill be able to recover all of it.
If somebody could answer this. Do we get a gold reward at the end to partially nullify the gold cost?

you have spells but no talents mean they are mostly useless.
cant say about the gold reward, but around 60k seems normal in events at my level |
there is no gold reward directly but you have a few things :
the bonus points in HG and MG + potions (see announcement for full details)
the art you get at the end depending on how well you did
the imperial parts |
