New barb alt faction ability.
You guys are forgetting one thing.

Ferocious wound has been mentioned as one of the "creature" abilities in help section, as pointed out by Sir Jedi. And not Faction ability. So, I suppose, one of the "creature" of the upcoming alt-class will have this ability. Isn't it?
My guess is alt ogre. Normal ogre has stun, upgrade has chastise spells, altgrade might have stun + ferocious wound. Note that those shark guys also have a nasty club ;-)

So clearly, amphibians would most closely relate to wizards. So, wizard alt-grade. A very ferocious one (for a change...)

Let's put barbs on table.

Goblins archers, doens't have this abillity.
Boar riders doesn't have this abillity.
Orcs, they could replace bloodlust for ferocious wounds, makes sence.
Ogres they could replace chatise or stun for ferocious wounds, makes sence.
Fire birds, doesn't have this abillity.
Cyclops is unprobabbly to be.
Bahamuts, they could change ingnore defence for damage boost, makes sence.

If I had to pick one of them, I should go with bahemuts...

Admins have promised our next alt faction will be alt barbarian, which excluds tribal, wizard, elf, dark elfs and dwarfs theory, besides the fact they do not have this abillity on heroes V, so if they want to keep this game loyal and close to heroes V, they won't will do that.

So behemuts is my final bet.

I like this idea - I vote for Poltergeists (they are pretty useless now)

What I meant to say is is will be an ability of one of the creatures in the Alt barb faction. Also remember they are coming out with 2 Alt barb factions. 1 will be defense oriented and 1 will be darkness specialized.
why would there come out 2 .. ?
would be weird barb has 4 of each unit while some other factions still only have 2.

Because that "another" faction is not or is not related to amphibians? ;p

I expect that shark thing, to be a tier 4 or 5 creature,of whatever alt-class is introduced.
but these have things like amphibian too, which is still for the neutral creatures. So there has to be a new unit with this ability as well.
Well the way i see it:
The Ability is for an Alt faction (as Arctic has confirmed)
We know the next Alt is barbs (Admins confirmation)

so it is one of them. The #24 club idea is simple but a good one to make the guess of ogres a perfect one. to make it more concrete, the creature should be a slow one, otherwise that faction will rule all the others.

looking at the word ferocious, the meaning does not in anyway limit it to a amphibian creature.

although the behemoth is a good one too. and as for the HOMM you should not look at HOMM V since the barbs are not from that version but the HOMM 3 but i have not seen any third upgrade untill now... will search for more about it now.

I would go with the Ogres.

Another think I forgot to mention.
Sharks had ferious wounds because of their sharp teths, it's on their description on heroes VI something about deadly bit which cause wounds to enemy bitten.
Orcs, ogres or cyclops can't bit anything.
But behemoths have deadly claws like a fericity beast, so makes sence their claws open a deep wound that cause this ferocious wound, and also behemut is a best like sharks are.
