For a caster DE they are superior thanks to higher initiative and HP imho. |

if lordswm is based on the HOMM V, so the alternate upgrade like brisk rider and task master is still missing another ability.
brisk rider : can damage enemy unit as it move arround it
taskmaster : bravery aura, increase morale of friendly unit in one tile arround it |

I don't think they would balance magic DE in PvE. They would just make magic DE more tough in PvP while making no significant improvement in PvE. |
